Lillee mocks Sunny
by arijit sen on Sep 13, 2003 03:07 PM

As soon as one tries to win a discussion by being personal, he brings in unneccesary prejudices and loses the argument. The character and culture of the man gets revealed. Sorry Mr.Lillee, admire you as just a good cricketer!

RE:lillee's comments
by mohan srinivas on Aug 04, 2003 01:20 PM

dear editor: someone ought to remind lillee that gavaskar did not ask chauhan to leave the ground because he was wrongly given out lbw. gavaskar was infuriated, as any proud cricketer would be, when after he was given out, the bowler dennis lillee (surprise, surprise!) hurled an ugly epithet at him! i don't know what exactly dennis lillee said to gavaskar but i suspect it was racist or otherwise seriously offensive because it infuriated gavaskar to such an extent that he was ready to forfeit the test match in protest! by the way, someone needs to explain to lillee who seems to be a little confused that his act of making ugly remarks to gavaskar after he was given out lbw is called "sledging" in the English language and that gavaskar's act of asking his batting partner to follow him to the pavilion and forfeit the match is called a "protest". just to set the record straight, i have lived in australia briefly, and contrary to what lillee claims, there is a lot of sledging going on among teenagers in schools during cricket matches in australia too (duh!).

Lille words
by Murali on Aug 03, 2003 09:00 AM

Whats lillee trying to say by pointing to Sunnys comments. Agreed no teams wud like to lose. Aussies are on step ahead by their bitter words of mouth.

In general Experience is even Aussies who play for club cricket, do adopt the sledging irrespective of its being friendly or otherwise. So that shows how much the younger lads are getting tactics rotten by seein the modern cricket, which is mainly influenced by assuie habits.

SO Lille shld admit first Aussies are the bigger chunk who make such a sorry state to cricket.

Whatever Sunny did at that time , may be wrong to say the least as it was agaist cricketing rules in not abiding to umpires decision. But thats not called Sledging. Sunny showed his displeasure. Has it affected any individuals morale then.

But Aussie lads or pros do make the opposition team go for sheild when the oppo, team do well by their words and lose their concentration.

If this sickening thing isnt stopped or Cricketing body doesnt take steps to warn all teams and in particular Aussies, THe game of cricket is no more gentle and Cricket loses always

Better Senior sportsman Lille know this

Yet another aussie..
by Ramanathan on Aug 02, 2003 07:41 PM

He is yet another australian.. Gavaskar is truly a master batsmen who has tormented WI in WI. No doubt he is the best test batsmen India has produced so far. He is resorting to verbal sledging against Sunny now. I guess Australians can't stop sledging and it seems to be an inborn one for them.

ISANE TO LE HI LI (VB)

Look at Lillee's response. What else u could except from another sledger. Lillee look at ur backyard. What happens at junior level sports. How many parents abuse umpires on every weekend. How many players get bans & suspensions every week in NRL & AFL. This what Aussies watch & cheer about on every weekend hurting opposition players & tackling a player instead of ball. Do not except much from Lillee either coz he nothing but sledger.
