high time we realise that sports and politics should not be mixed. if we do not need to play pak then we should have also forfeited the world cup mathc. but then i gues we are learnig from America and follow and convenience strategy.

Shame on BCCI!!!
by Sunil N. Shrestha on Aug 01, 2003 09:58 PM

This is the worst thing that the BCCI could have done. Ben Hollioke was a young and aspiring cricketer. He also toured India during the last tour. How can they stop its players, currently playing in the English county from playing a charity match for a deceased cricketer. It was an opportunity to prove the cricketing world that Indian players do have respect and feelings for the fellow cricketers around the world, and that they are willing to contribute for a cause. Perhaps, with the globalization of game, the board is only interested in games in which it can earn money. Or may be it is politics, for the fact that the Indian players would have to play along with Pakistani players in the Asian team. Shame on BCCI.

people don't take the ship to england anymore
by guru on Aug 01, 2003 09:40 PM

"There are several benefit matches for Indian players pending and so it's not logical for them to be playing away from their country in a charity game."???

What does it mean? i don't see what the problem is in yuvraj/kaif flying to england to play a game and come back..looks pretty stupid..

Its illogical....
by Sundar on Aug 01, 2003 07:59 PM

its really illogical on the part of board....the board has better work to do rather than stopping kaif and yuvraj from playing a charity match.......i guess the rules shud be changed ....the players shud have the freedom to play the charity matches as long as it doesnt coincide with their national games...its really ridiculous tht the board has taken such a decision...

Shameful decision
by Anand on Aug 01, 2003 06:01 PM

The Indian board should be ashamed for making such a heartless decision. When will the Indian board ever learn to petty issues behind and get on with life. I strongly condem the Indian board's decision to not allow Kaif and Yuvraj to play in the memorial match.
