What? ex-players managing BCCI?
by Hari on May 06, 2003 09:41 PM

You could not be more wrong pal. BCCI should not be run by former players or politicians. It needs to be run by Business Professionals whose goal is to produce the best results. Like they say, you keep winning money follows. Former players don't necessarily make good administrators. I see that at my work all the time, great Software Engineers don't necessarily make great Managers. BCCI needs to be run like a Business with goal of winning rather than making money as the primary goal.

''Too many foreigners'' - EH

Hats off to our senior cricketers for proving an excellent obstacle enroute to NCA's cricket academy's plans to become a world class facility.

Guess they are learning a thing or two from central ministers, Ram NaiK et al..., in the art of "protecting fiefdoms". Way to go...

leave coaching alone!
by calvin on Apr 30, 2003 09:29 AM

i have great appreciation for sunny, kapil, patil et al as cricketers. but could they please keep out of the coaching system. they're not particularly good at it - but seem hell bent on controlling it. for all those supporting patil - you may want to check with the kenyan team on how exactly they rated him (or just how much they thanked him after every game). xenophobia is a convenient way of making money for yourself - ask the bombay cub!!

ridiculous
by Dhiraj on Apr 30, 2003 07:14 AM

its disgusting how manipulative the BCCI continues to be. all its trying to do is keep some old, entrenched, leadership happy, at the cost of the country's cricket. i'm a huge fan of wright, and i don't understand why he's the target of this stupid "quasi-swadeshi" movement in our cricketing programs.

there must be some way to introduce accountability into the BCCI, perhaps the ministry of sport could play a role?

Yes!! Why not.
by Sai Anand on Apr 30, 2003 05:21 AM

Excuse me , what does this have to do with the abilities of the team and it's performance? It is not going to do anything. Actually, some of article is correct. Why not use former Indian cricketers for some of the jobs (leave the coaching job; it is safe with Wright). the other jobs can go to those cricketers!! Kris Srikkanth, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohinder Amarnath can do such jobs. Give them also a chance to be part of the Indian cricket uplift!!

time for change!
by Rohit S. on Apr 29, 2003 10:14 PM

The biggest hurdle to the development of cricket in India are people like these who parochialism stifles every progressive move to further Indian cricket in to the next millennium.

It's time that the cricket board was made accountable to the general public. And people like these whether former cricketers or bucaneer businessmen are kicked out of the scheme of things. It was time we asked how these former players contributed to cricket in their hey days!
