While i'm a great admirer of Sachin, to suggest that he started life from 'the lowest of the low' is to betray an incredible ignorance of the rampant poverty so common in our country - Sachin was born into a middle-class family & had a comfortable childhood. He's great enough without any need to exaggerate.
Too much is written about Sachin, as if we don't have any other work than reading about him. Why don't you put columns about him in the sports section instead of on the first page itself. I might discontinue visiting this site if it continues on.
Can we stop with this Sachin stuff already! The only thing i've seen on Rediff for the past one week has been sachin related stuff.. you would think he died or something...
Sure, he's a great player! Sure, we're proud of him, but can we move on.. PLEASE !
Remember Kapil Dev, Azharuddin etc.. What happens when we realize that our Gods have feet of clay?
Hope Sachin plays for another ten years and cross 20K runs. But at the same time, hopefully he uses his money, fame and power to help unfortunate people around. He is in a unique position to do this, and sadly not much has come out... except for asking duty exemptions and house building sites reserved for displaced people.
He still remains a little man with a little heart. ;-( regardless of however much hero worship people do, as mentioned in the article by his "buddy".
