More first class matches before the first test
by trey on Apr 20, 2003 06:22 PM

The indians should play atleast 2 first class matches before the first test at the gabba.Jag please change the schedule.Never before has this been done and before we blink our eye, we are 2 nil down. And i hope we take 5 fast bowlers. No more srinath and kumble please.I remember kumble dropping a sitter in the first test. For god's sake we know what they have done in overseas tours. The fast bowlers i would bet on are zaheer, nehra, salvi, irfan pathan Jr. and balaji/rakesh patel in my squad of 16 with harbhajan and mishra as the spinners. The elegance of laxman should revisit downunder hopefully. If we just believe in ourselves,we can win couple of tests.

This tour, if it goes by history, will prove to be nemisis for players on the edge! Hope BCCI keeps this in mind and does not make its decisions(punishing) around this series, particularly dealing with newbies!

tight schedule?
by Winston Veerender on Apr 17, 2003 06:31 PM  | Hide replies

it's interesting to note that there are only 2 days rest between the 3rd & 4th tests! Think the boards are trying to make as much money as possible out of this series which will be the most high profile one in the next few seasons!

That aside, it should be an interesting series though.

Don't worry. Most of the test matches will be over in 3 days! Cricketers will get plenty of rest!

The schedule is the same every year - the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne and then the New Years test in Sydney.

I don't think it would matter. Aus plays faster than all teams and so do we on most times. which means on most occasions we'll have a result in 4 days. A recent statistic shows that aus were pushed to the 5th day only 13 times out of the 45 odd matches they've played under waugh.

Re-schedule the Venues.

A word of advice to the Indian management -

India should play initial matches at the farthest city e.g. begin the tour by playing the test matches in Hobart - Melbourne - Sydney - Adelaide - Perth.

This will change the results other way round to India's past history playing in Australia.

East or West - India is the best.

India will lose 4-0 to Australia
by Julian Sequeira on Apr 17, 2003 02:31 AM

Last time India toured Aus , BCCI secretary
Lele commented that india will lose the test series
3-0.
his predictions came true ..
I have a feeling that Lele will again
jump up and predict the outcome. india lose 4-0
to Australia. which is unevitable.
