I totally disagree with the author, the Tournament in Sharjah has always proved a great success wheather its played after or before the world cup. Its great for the teams and its probably one of the main one day tournaments in the world (after world cup). If the teams like it and the fans are certainly not complaining, it should carry on for as long as possible. The Sharjah cricket staduim has hosted the most one day matches and some real memorable nail biters.
The whole game of cricket is a waste of time - for most. May be the Europeans can have the nice excuse of getting a tan by "spending some quality time in the middle". Why Indians and Srilankans ? Football is the better option - Save the skin from Ultraviolet risks and save the country. We dont need the nation on its toes in the name of this "Game". If you dont agree with me, start playing football and you will realise why!!
Dan It is your choice to pay attention to these tournaments .. If you do not want a surfeit of one-dayers then please do not pay attention and write about it.
I for one want cricket every day. I will pick and choose what I watch.
Sorry to see that South Africa is citing safty reasons for not sending their team to Sharjha-the kind of response expected from a WHITE country which jumps at the sound of a loud fire cracker. Agree that countries should use the tournament to blood youngsters to don national colours and also make some money. Poor Saurav has to turn out in Bangladesh as he is the Captain of the National team and besides I understand he enjoys demi-god status in Bangladesh as he does in Bengal.Enjoy the food/fish.
Sahara group seems to have pulled off some sort of a publicity coup for FREE.Hope that the BCCI and the players get their money.As for the flats for each player, only time will tell if they actually get pocession, at the moment they have only seen a model of the complex and have a sheet of paper in their hand. The BCCI/Players Association should ensure that the players do not get paraded like race horses at an auction or is it the fault of some of the senior players and their agents?
All the teams that are participating in these series is experimenting with new players.It improves the bench strength and generates income to respective boards & players .Even after the FIFA world cup the Brazilians played lots of not so important matches in Asia.It was fun.I don't know why the author is complaining!!!
