Good job
by Nizar on Apr 03, 2003 02:50 AM

A very interesting article. It is written in a lucid manner with a genuine touch. After reading this, any cricket spectator in India would identify him/her with a particular type described in this column. The author's insight is remarkable.

Good article
by Subhashis Biswas on Apr 03, 2003 02:29 AM

This is a very good article written by a person who understands different aspects of the game. The Indian fans probably is the best thing that could have happened for world cricket.Even Ali Bacher stated after the world cup that The Cricket world will be poor with out India, both financially and enthusiastically. We should be proud that no matter in which category of fans mentioned in the article we fall into, we are supporter of a cricket crazy nation which rules the world in passion emotion flair and ofcourse in cricket(we almost rule the world dont we..!!..forget the Australians..rest is ours..!!)

Amazing stuff!!!
by Saurabh on Apr 02, 2003 07:50 PM

It was great to read an analysis of the spectators rather than the players, for the first time. This is a very well written article. I read it again and again and enjoyed it every time I read it. The most interesting aspect of this column is that everything written has an amazing touch of reality described and analyzed in an intelligent way. Great effort.

Hats off!!
by Niranjan on Apr 02, 2003 07:23 PM

This is one of the best articles and analysis of human interaction I have experienced. Congratulations. When I was reading your article, I could picturise my own experiences while watching the game in a group of people. All types of people you mentioned in your article are ususally seen in any cricket gatherting. It was a real enlightening experiece to read this article.

Psychoanalytic?!?!?
by Mark on Apr 02, 2003 02:32 PM

As a cricket-loving psychiatrist, to even suggest that this is psychoanalytic is just ridiculous. There is nothing psychoanalytic about any of this turgid prose.

nice one
by Kaivalya on Apr 02, 2003 05:52 AM

class article. ur insights into the vast array of Indian cricket fans is spot on. Although you should have develed into each topic a bit deeper and really analysing why the fan might be considered a certain type of supporter. I think you also should have used another category to analyse each of the groups, which is the level of education about the game....the ones that play cricket and know a bit about it. That would further explain each group with greater calrity.

Anyway, I really enjoyed reading your article. keep up the good work.
