What is wrong in doing what we like? If a guy chooses to marry his lover, his own parents disagree & that does not mean he is a rougue. It is his life & wish. So, what is wrong in watching, playing a game what we like? Nothing wrong in thinking to improve football which is no doubt a good game. But dont blame cricket for everything. It is rubbish & spineless thinking....
blended with .team spirit, skill and good physical agility, which we Indians lack. We are not team people, niether appreciate skill unless it is backed by some powerful, complacent when agility is requited. We have produced excellent skilled footballers even equivalent to international players in the past but due to public apathy and lack of spirit killed this sport in India. Some 40 years ago, all Government schools promoted games football, Hockey, badminton and volley ball with physical education training. But, now with the mushrooming private schools which do not have even an inch of space for PET spoiled all and people only shall be blamed for it. Whatever grounds facility provided by the Government in the vast expanse of Government Schools are used as public toilets invariably in cities and villages.

India is ashamed to be in the first 100's...Rob Baan doesn't understand they chose a respectable 168th position....Its a lazy sporting nation - Cricket is all that we know and understand unfortunately we are not even first in this game for a consistent 5 years....
You can play cricket in a small space with nets - but not football.
In any case in any major city, if you keep random spaces empty big enough for football, that will be an invitation for migrants to build slums. Then court cases, then vote bank etc, etc, etc.
Indain football should revolutionise like T20. Make IFL with shortened version of 20 - 20 minutes.See soon how many good players u may get into yr national teaqm
Football as a sport cannot survive in India owing to many reasons some of which are:
1) Inclement weather. Our weather will not permit this beautiful game to be played with the same intensity as it is played by european nations. players will get exhausted within a few minutes and could even collapse...
2) The physical strength and stamina needed to play this game at its highest level is just too much for any average Indian.
3) Mindset of the ppl will take a long time to change. Currently Indian fans only enjoy cricket bcoz it has lesser competition, owing to which we tend to do well in it.
4) The apathy of govt and corporate bodies towards promoting any sports other than cricket.
India should concentrate in sports where we can do well like: 1) TT 2) Chess 3) Wrestling 4) Boxing 5) Badminton to name a few...

I disagree.. look at the south americans - they are shorter than indians, they excel at it. the difference is passion. they are crazy about the game, while we are crazy only about cricket
