The way he refers to Vishnu is very condescending and not very professional at all. If he wants his partner to do well than he is supposed to give him confidence and not show him down like this. Paes is just preparing ground for excuses at the cost of young Visnu. Just goes on to show why other players do not want to play with him.
I wonder what was Leander Paes's ranking when Ramesh Krishnan played with him?
Your arrogance will be your downfall Leander, do not forget everyone likes heroes who are polite and professional - and you are turning in to a balloon full of gas!
Re: Paes - Try and control your Arrogance!

Hello do not go by Rankings, Ramesh is Ranked 20 in the world and reached Quarter Finals of Wimbeldon, US open. Still Leander used to beat top 10 players in Davis Cup matches and always puts pressure off from Ramesh.Which Ramesh Krishnan also admitted in a interview with a New Channel. Yes he is arrogant when playing for the Country not for his personal gains.
The comments made by Paes on Vishnu is sheer arrognace. For all we know Vishnu might turn out to be better than big boys of indian tennis. he deserves more respect than such lousy comments. The self proclaimed king of indian tennis should be more humble...
Bhuapthi/Sania Pairing : Recently won French open, but everyone is forgetting the fact that French open is a Clay court tournament and Olympics are played on Grass courts.Even greatest of players struggle to make the necessary adjustments. So,it wudn't have mattered whether Sania pairs with Paes/Bhuapthi as the pair will need to make the same adjustments. Paes/Sania Pairing : In tennis ,u've forehand players and backhand players and when u form a team both the players shud complement each other's game whereas Sania & Paes are both forehand players,so there is no question of complementing each other's game.
So,whether Sania is paired with Paes/Bhupathi,the result will be same,no medal for India in Mixed doubles category.

paes is a great player, but sometimes he want to dominate others like bhupathi or boppanna..or sania..now no one wants to be dominated for sure..hence these problem..as such there is no bright chance of any medals so dont waste time.
There is no Doubt that PAES is a great player, so Bhupati and Sania are, but as far as Olympic concern instead of considering past form and performance, AITA should consider the current perfomance. THIS IS HAPPEN IN EVERY SPORT, THAT CONCERN SPORT AUTHORITY ALWAYS CONSIDER PAST PERFORMANCE, INSTEAD OF CURRENT PERFORMANCE
Re: PERFORMANCE
by Aam Aadmi on Jun 29, 2012 01:54 PM
hi dumbass sania and bhoopatty are third class compared to paes. And your talking about current perfonce. even then paes is ranked higher. get some basic facts before posting

by smita R on Jun 29, 2012 02:09 PM
That was the PAST, may be bhupati is jealous and may be boppanna and sania support him, but here there is a concern of medal for india in olympic, and we all know that chance of Bhupati & Sania to win gold is much much higher than paes & sania

by Maihoon Don on Jun 29, 2012 02:13 PM
hehehe, gold???? even a bronze will be a big achievement. winning in mixed doubles btw is no big deal, paes has more doubles grand slams than b00p0tty because thats where the greater players win.
Re: Re: PERFORMANCE
by smita R on Jun 29, 2012 02:10 PM
here we are not talking about single ranking, as a matter of fact no indian is qualified for single game in tennis this year. here we are talking about mix double, and you might be knowing that Bhupati and sania have recently win grand slam
Re: Re: Re: PERFORMANCE

hi smarty. first try to be smarter than yourself. I am talking about doubles ranking. gosh your so like your uncle bhoopatty
Re: Re: Re: Re: PERFORMANCE
by smita R on Jun 29, 2012 02:17 PM
and when last PAES has won any tournament with indian partner? and when bhupati has won last tournament with indian partner?
Re: Re: Re: PERFORMANCE

Smita, Two things to consider here: Grand slam is different from Olympics. Surface matters, Bhupati & sania have won french open on Clay. Olympics will be played on grass. Last thing for you. top 20 singles men & ladies players will be participating in both Doubles & mixed doubles. So only passion for nation will help any 1 win. When you talk about national pride.its all paes...paes
Re: Re: PERFORMANCE
by smita R on Jun 29, 2012 02:14 PM
I AM NOT SAYING THAT BHUPATI IS RIGHT. HE IS THE BIGGEST PRETENDER, OTHERWISE HE WOULD HAVE PLAYED WITH PAES IN DOUBLe. the chance to win medal in olympic of Bhupati/PAES is much higher than Bhupati/Bopanna and PAES/V.V.
Re: Re: Re: PERFORMANCE
by DAWA JACOB on Jun 29, 2012 02:52 PM
smita, I think Bhupati ,sania & Bopanna are not representing India..they are representing Globo sport run by Bhupati.
Re: PERFORMANCE
by sujith kumar on Jun 29, 2012 06:03 PM
You keep asking about the merit. Pls check the latest seeding of Wimbledon. Paes with his partner is seeded 4th while Bhupati & Sania is seeded 5th despite their clay court win. In both doubles group, based on current performance, Paes is ahead of Bhupati, so the natural selection should be withe top ranking players. It is a different matter that Sania, Bopanna are part of Bhupati's sporting team and cannot see him being dumped to second team.
As it stands now all the senior tennis players have put in their firm refusal to play along side Leander Paes. Why the whole lot of players are against him ? AILTA has not made any efforts to find out the cause of such a revolt by all the players and certainly it may not be baseless. Paes has been dictating terms to AILTA as if he is indispensable. The press has also played major part in pampering him and make him strong headed. The greatest player India has produced is Ramanathan Krishnan the father of Ramesh Krishnan, if there is any one second to him it is Vijay Amritharaj. All other players are mediocre. If Paes wants to withdraw let him do so , it was not required for any official to fly to London to pacify him.

We must support Paes - true in spirits.... not like coward Bhupathi who teamed up for his own gain instead of the nation's.
I dont know much about tennis, but as soon as i remember, BHUPATHI and SANIA recently won grand slam (French Open) and AITA says that we have selected PAIR (PAES & SANIA) on merit basis, i want to ASK What type of merit is this? 1st to last or Last to 1st?
Leander Paes is the Greatest sportsman India has ever produced even greater than Sachin Tendulkar in terms of his achievements for the sake of the Country. Sachin has only personal records to show, but for the Country nobody forgets the contribution of Leander Paes in Davis Cup matches. He never won any major tournaments in his profession carrier, but playing for his country he beats ranked below 10 in the world. The way he beat Todd Martin ranked 8 in the world in Atlanta Olympics to win Bronze for the country. And even beating Henri Leconte in the Red Rolland Garros court in Davis Cup Semi-Final match and Mats Wilander in Quarter Final match at Sweden are some of the highligths in his carrier. In my opinion he is real Bharat Ratna. And as far as Mahesh Bhupathi is concerned he is born and brought up in US. And he has nothting to show for the country except his personal record as Doubles player.

Paes is a also ran story most of his career. By your own admission he never won any major tournaments and also never ranked in international ranking in men's singles tournament. If he is to be given a. Bharat ratna there will be thousands such candidates. And for info no one plays for records. They play for country and create records. They bring laurels to the country and at the same time achieve greatness. Sachin is such a guy. He is miles ahead of Paes in that matter
Re: Re: Leander Paes
by SRINIVASAN SUBRAMANIAN on Jun 29, 2012 03:18 PM
When he was playing singles, he was ranked as high as 73 in ATP Rankings. Check the facts. He has won lot of Davis Cup matches against much higher ranked players. For info, no payment is given to players for playing Davis Cup matches. Please tell how many test matches Sachin won for the country. I am a Sachin fan, but still you cannot deny Paes' achievements. He has won more men's doubles titles than Bhupathi. Further, he has got a Olympic singles bronze which was a first medal in individual sports in Olympics after 44 years.

Dear Subroto what i am said is sachin plays for his own records not for the country. Paes is type of player plays for his country and the difference is Sachin got out in the final of World Cup for 17 runs in chasing 273. But Leander risis his tempo 100 times wins the Davis Cup mathes when countrys prestige is at stake
