Present win clearly indicates that drastic Step like removing of corrupt officials from sports governing bodies really helps .It is high time similiar steps are taken in other sports governing bodies in India for better results.
How is it there is no photo of winning goal or lifting of trophy on any of the news reports?? is it reserved only for CRICKET?? What prevents new agencies and others to put out the 3 winning goals in the news item. Even in the news channels the news of india's victory was only the last item of news and not the first item of news. we have to change if we want others sports to also grow and flourish in india.
when tendulkar changes his underwear brand it is news...but when india wins in hockey its not even in the news...the media needs to taken to task for insulting our national sport...

When did news of Tendulkar changing his underwear come up on news channel? Did your w-i-f-e tell you about such news?
There was a time when Hockey was rated above Cricket. It all changed in 1983 when India lifted the Cricket World Cup. Kudos to the Indian Hockey Team for triumphing inspite of all odds stacked up against you. Proud of you guys...

We should not only blame cricket, should we? Let's not forget that after the bronze medal in Munich Olympic in 1972, our hockey team never won any Olympic medal (except Gold in the truncated Moscow Olympics in 1980). Let us hope that now they will return to winning habits.
Let me assure you: there is no dearth of expertise in hockey coaching in our country. And whatever we may lack internally, we can acquire from abroad.
Let this win be the trigger for the renaissance of Indian hockey. Fortunately, the dictator Gill is shut out for good and let from at least now onwards, sincere administrators be appointed to run the game in India along purposeful lines.
Can the government increase allocation to Hockey (and other sports too) and put in place a program where in all EXISTING astro-turf facilities are utilized to the hilt? I know Hyd has TWO pitches - but no one seems to be playing there.
This has to change. We need a multi-level program, across various age-groups to create a deep pool of talent. From this should emerge our national level players.
Every state has very good, former players whose services can be utilised to ensure that these programs are executed as per plan.
And for once, let the govt confine its role to funding and leave the rest to professionals.
