BAICHUNG..what happened?
by robin on Jul 14, 2008 08:07 PM

for 3 years, baichung was my strike partner on thursday evenings during friendly matches here in manchester..we used to have great fun and i know he really looked forward to the matches..although social matches, they were taken very seriously! he left bury and yesterday he's playing with ralph schumacher..whats going on? on a serious note, the boy is a gentleman, down to earth and a total professional! his wife also introduced me to my future wife so i am internally grateful to them both..well done chung..proud of you!

Bravo Baichung !!! You made us Indians proud!! Being called to play for such a cause and with the world's stars itself was a big honour. Now you honoured the call ......... and in what a way !!!! ........ The best thing you could do..... to score goals !!! Bravo Baichung once again !!!

Have to start from somewhere.
by suchhando chatterjee on Jul 14, 2008 06:58 AM

Indians get so much money in a sport called cricket where no real toughness and strength is required.
India needs more of Baichung's like to achieve the glory it left in few decades ago...

Too much hype over nothing!
by Sudarshan Shreenivas on Jul 13, 2008 09:14 PM  | Hide replies

There has been too much hype about this match and the fact that Baichung scored 2 goals. I am a die hard fan of Baichung Bhutia, but the very fact that this was only an exhibition match and that too the players were not necessarily professional footballers means that the intensity and high standards associated with a truely competitive international match was missing. However I would still like to obtain CDs of the match. If anyone can help, please reply.

hey guys..b4 u jump to any conclusions abt the goals..plz look at d clips on you tube...the goals he scored were so easy..i mean there was no pressure on him....no tackles on him.. no doubt i respect mr. bhutia for his achievements..but i do not think he is ready at the international level...

yeah yeah..... the match and the goals were too easy....... even Deepak Sunku could have scored those goals had he been called to play (which 'fortunately'will not happen in this birth). You are the kind of people who jump at their will when MS Dhoni scores a half century and wins a match against Bangladesh or Hong Kong. But cant appreciate Baichung Bhutia's two goals in an international all star match.

Fabulous reply Shubhrakanti. Now let's hope Mr. Sunku will have the good manners to refrain from any further idiotic comments.

Bravo Bhaichung ... Bravo !! Wow
by Ganesh on Jul 13, 2008 09:14 PM  | Hide replies

Bravo Bhaichung ... Bravo !! Wow

You scored for your team playing against all the great players in the World. Amazing.

Only goes to show if proper Infrastructure, coaching, mentoring and stadia for football (atleast if 5 lush green world class grounds like in Europe or elsewhere) are made available for Indians in India, how much more football can develop here and how many more great players like Bhaichung we can produce for our country and also create a good INDIAN Football team of 23 people from a population of billion Indians.

Hope India qualifies for World Cup Football or atleast for Asia Cup Football someday and atleast ranks in the Top 50 or 75 countries in FIFA rankings.

Remember india'a position is about 123 that's
123 * 12 players about 1500 players [ National players] being noticed and invited to PLAY speaks volumes about India's BB. Greater still he found goal not once but twice and that to against DIDA the best in Goalkeeping business.
Please GOD let India get more Biachug like sportsmen rather that MS Dhoni - who prefers to in IPL alone and not in INDIAN TEAM .

Baichung Bhutia in 'Goal 4 Africa'
by santosh gupta on Jul 13, 2008 08:44 PM

It was really great to watch Baichung Bhutia playing with the great of world of football and also it was facinating him partnering in front with the F1 legend Michael Schumacher. Especially the one two between them. Also to watch how his captain Dutch star Clarence Seedorf hugging him after the goal of Schumi.he was bit shy when he started that match but got along very well with every one.And icing on th e cake he scored twice in each half and played full 90 minutes .I was really amazing I hope we can able to watch more in future. We are proud of you Mr.Bhutia
