It was a great match indeed. Rafa deserves full marks to have kept his nerves when the fortune swung in Fed's favour
But dear Fed, start working on your psychology if you want to win atleast two more Grand Slams to win to equal Pete.
The moment Rafa is sighted on the opposite side of the court all your aura of invincibility in sunk between your legs. You start moving lethargically....
Why that psychic feeling ???????
You need to work with a certain coach of late and its time you start making preparations to atleast retain your US Open Crown....
But any way, great effort as you said "I Tried everything" at the end of the match..

Not the Greatest match of the Century dude... If you would have watched Tennins longtime back there were other greatest matches... don't exaggerate things
The champion cry baby! Why doesn't he accept that it was rain which might have saved him from a straight three sets diffeat at the hands of Nadal. What mattered was the age factor. Bjohn borg ha said when he retired at 27 yrs. that he was too old for wimbledon tennis. the Borg had correctly and politely predicted that 'it would be tough this year for Federer to win. Lots of new kids are on the block now!. Our own commentator, VJA, had predicted, astrologically perhaps, that Federer would in 4 sets!!

probably you dint watch the match and just reading the redif report. rain delay helped Nadal to recuperate, after he fell down and injured his knees a bit.
I'm sure u missed how Federer had the integrity to congratulate Nadal and promise to be back next year.
If somebody didn't have that integrity it was the so-called great Bjorn Borg, who also took his chance to come down on Fed.

VJA was a jack ass of his era. Nobody outside India knows his name...just check what was Sampras' age or for that matter Gorans age when they won Wimbledon..

yes he blabbered in the spur of the moment before regaining his consciousness, that is excusable! (didn't behave like Kasparov when he lost two games to Anand...no!)

Come on now... you could see that the credit he gave nadal ws just for the sake of it. It's sort of a routine. You could see that he hardly meant it. Thats not what is expected of a champion. No doubt he is ONE of the all time greats, but that also involves being a true sportsman - and which sadly i believe he is not.

to understand his sportsmanship you should put it in the context of how the tennis world behaved all through this year. they created a psychological pressure against Fed in favour of Nad. This is not in justification of his defeat of course. But, amidst all the uncalled for predictions and criticisms Fed was gracious enough. I appreciate that. You may not. That is ok. Tastes differ.

Fed was under tremendous pressure.First he had a bout of illness. He lost Aus.Open in semis. He did not win any major tournaments before wimbledon (mostly clay)and on the top of it, Ex-Bigs psychologically defeated him.He was nervous and Rafa had nothing to lose at wimbledon. You should be at Fed's shoes to understand the pressure.Anyway, still he is numero uno.Congrats to Rafa as Professional Tennis now has a healthy rivalry. please do not write foolish messages to make the rivalry a cut throat one. Thanks.

thanks for your enlightening remark. but i thought we (people who commented on this thread) were not rubbishing the rivalry. If you see such an attempt, then thanks for pointing out. great teachers like you should walk the world every now and then. i'm happy to to see you.

Thats true. Tastes differ. But outside pressure is part and parcel of it all. Fedex himself has raised the bar that high and with that come the expectations and pressure. Sadly he wasnt able to withstand the pressure, if thats what you mean. But all in all we, as mere spectators could never have asked for a better finals. In all these years that i have followed tennis, I've seen some very long and equally close fought matches. But to have it here in a wimbledon final with this drama and entertainment and the sheer class of tennis produced by both... nothing really matches it. Thank god for that.
