by pankaj singh on Feb 04, 2008 09:42 PM  | Hide replies

If she doesn't want to play in India, let her go n play in USA.A person having her talent will not even be recognized on tennis courts.
Has she ever won a Grand Slam? What is she pretending to be?A superheroine or a Champion?
What she is today is only because she is an Indian.A person with world ranking of 40 won't get any treatment like she has got in India.
If she doesn't think like this she better quit, nothing will change.
The nation will move on whether some mirza girl plays or not.

He did not say that about Sumitha cuz

1. The topic here is about Sania Mirza
2. Sunitha never made such statements

By the way, what exactly are you trying to prove when you say "Why don't you say the same thing about Sunita Williams ???", looks like you are the one having a communal angle here.

FYI: Sunitha is no way even close to popular here in US, you are infact reinforcing what Pankaj is trying to say.

Shame on you Mr.Whatever
What she is today is not because she is an Indian but because a little bit more talented then you can ever be!!! I wouldn't be surprised even if she boycotts our country itself. After being a sportswoman of that caliber she is being dragged into a court for what!???? indecency!!!??? whats wrong with you people and top of that you go ahead and boast about it??Whatever good treatment she has got in India according to you is because she deserves it and much more then that!!!
Yes the nation will move on breaking more records of being the most populated country of the world and producing 1 sachin 1 sania and million great people such as you.

Pankaj, plz try to understand there are only 4 Grand Slam in a year.Winning a grand slam is not the only criteria of being a good player.Since 1983 our cricket team has not one the World-Cup/since 1975 our hockey team has not won the world cup, then why the hell we support them(crickters).I hope you know that tennis is an individual sport which needs physical fitness levels which our nappy-wearing crickters cant dream of.A ranking of 29 in tennis is recognzed quite good in tennis-world.

by Santosh Raghavan on Feb 04, 2008 09:32 PM  | Hide replies

Don't take me wrongly, but Pls tell me, is she bigger than those freedom fighters/national activists, who gave their last drop of blood to honor the flag. Till the last breathe they did not allow the Flag to touch the dust. Here stands a Lady who has represented the nation at the highest level, but does she have any courtesy for the Nation. She was shot insulting the national flag (intentionally/unintentionally)Did she ever apologize for that? Whether a Leader or a Sports person or a layman, everybody is supposed to honor the Flag. Don't tell me about US or any other Nation in the World.

MS Sania seems to be caught by the zeal of settling in US...so dear fans pls chill, rather than Supporting her insulting the flag and threatening to Quit...

yes she is bigger than the flag ... flag is just a symbol .. anyone who gave their blood merely for the flag were stupid ... yes, stupid they were.

Flag is a symbol ... not the thing to fight for ... it is just a banner to fight and unite under ... not the goal of opne's life or a depiction of a country or a society.

@Loan Shark..just don't get into that. FLAG was not JUST the symbol for those martyrs whom you are calling stupid. Lets just drop this here itself. We are getting away from the main thing. What happened is wrong and she has either to accept it or deny it but cant run away from it.

the martyrs fought for the country, the people, the society that was opressed by the occupiers ... they united under the flag ...they did not fight for the flag ... flag's just a symbol.

So, if a house is on fire and their is human inside and a national flag inside. You have the option to save only one of the two. What will you save?

I would save the person.

i think you would have appreciated the same if she was wearing a two piece bikini of UK flag and there were some secret shots taken of her on some beach in Hawaii. The freedom fighters sacrificed their souls not to hoist a flag but to free us of slavery of all the dogmas and the diffrences created by the rulers. Nobody seems to have anticipated this i assume, i dont think this would have been such a big issue if she was a Hindu!!! I fail to understand what a stupid girl sania is. Instead of apologizing for her act she pulls out of the tournament. I am 100% sure that whatever happened was not intentional. Then why doesnt she gets over with it, issue an apology and move on. Inseatd what she does is deciding not to participate. Let her sit outside forever, we dont need such arrogant ppl in sports. She is an idol and must act like an idol. Stupidity at its best.

Apologize because as you can see in the picture for yourself her feet are besides the flag whether knowingly or unknowingly. And a public figure like her has to come up with some responsibilities from which she cant run away like the way she has done now. If she believes she has not done anything wrong then come and gove a statement and I would wonder how would she explain her negligence of keeping a national flag beside her feet.

Shut up...

Islam does not forbid sports...
It does not forbid sports for woman...

You have no authority to restrict others.

If you do not agree with the sport, do not watch it...

If you think movies are unislamic, don't watch them...

You can influence your family...But stop mandating things for people over whom u have no jurisdiction...

Sania is NOT ur sister/daughter/wife...So SHUT UP.

Allah has not given you the responsibility to JUDGE who the TRUE Muslims are...so please do not take this responsibility on urself...for if you do then you are trying to be ALLAH and that is the biggest SIN of all.

Know your jurisdiction before you make such arrogant statements.
