Good on her part
by hari c nair on Feb 04, 2008 07:20 PM  | Hide replies

Even if she would have played in Banglore open, what would she gain? Ultimately she would have lost in 2nd/3rd round. So better not to play. Good decision on her part.

Let the idiotic fundamentalists who are creating a nightmare for her answer for this. Bringing some age old nonsense against a young star is pathetic. Unfortunately the majority dont have strength to counter such minority and we suffer from the dictates of these minorities. We pity u dear Sania that your own community doesnt appreciate that u are best tennis player in Asia

sportsmen need to be given a lesson in flag honour
by lets go on Feb 04, 2008 07:16 PM  | Hide replies

a country's flag should be respected. every sportsmen/women should be advised by Indian government as to how they should handle the tricolour. its disgraceful when our players roll over the flag in the ground. its simple common sense that the flag should never tuch the ground or the feet.

Any person who has used a decent camera can vouch that with good lenses, it is possible to have near and far-off objects completely in focus. In reality, the flag must have been nowhere near the feet.

I can understand Sania's frustration. She may not be in the top 10 but she is the best India has got and she deserves respect for that.

Dude, I think you belong to Jurassic era. Nobody, least of all a player representing her country knowingly show disrepect to the national flag. If Sania did not have any respect for her country, then she would have settled in the US and not in a nation that has people with dim wits, jealousy and are downright senseless. Go get a life dude and appreciate achievers.

whats claim to fame venkata..what respect, she is famous she is rich and she is the BEST women tennis player India has ever produced. Just by deriling a proven celebrity you can not act smart. And lastly by giving it a communal color, u have truely shown ur ugly inside.
u suck man.

Its sad that a few fundamentalists have driven India's greatest women tennis star out of her own country. Its best she not play here till the time we learn to treat our non-cricketing heroes esp the ladies right.

Politics and Sports are better off on different planes.

Leave her alone!
by Ravi Challam on Feb 04, 2008 07:12 PM

We have a few demented, perverts who have no other work but to go after top Indian performers. The cases against Sania are petty and the Courts should not have admitted the writs in the first place. Surely, the courts have far more serious issues to deal with than a woman's dress or the positioning of her feet!! It's time these narrow-minded guys grow up and get a life for themselves. It is this crab in the bucket mentality that has prevented India from becoming a bigger power than it is. So, pl leave Sania alone and get on with your lives.
