i agree v cant lvl or win agnst sunderland, derby. but compare the infrastructure btn the two teams, the turf on which they play, the accessories. come on yaar, v ind r far more better cos of the conditions in which v play & the funds our players get for the matches. to add our players maynot get the salary for one yr which those player earn for 1 match. to even add the players r not fm eng team they r bought fm foreign clubs...
t is a pity that Cricket is treated in our country as god, which is ruining all other games. For betterment of all other games, Cricket and its live telecast should b banned at least for 15 yrs.
Otherwise also cricket is non competitive (as it is played only in some former british colonies), it is time consuming (especially test matches, and ODI, which go on for 5 & 1 full day respectively) and hence time consuming. It was mainly played by the high society and lazy people of UK. Even Barnard Shaw, the English poet had called it a foolish game. It is also a drain on our resources, as we r financing the world cricket.
It is non competitive game, still we r not on the top. But our cricketers earn crores of rupees through advertisements, auctioning themselves, match fees, match fixing etc. Whereas players of other games do not get any facility. This, combined with media hype for cricket, discourages youth from playing other games. We Indians know very little about other games, but we can tell details of cricket. Unless this attitude changes, other sports will not grow.
Abhinav could get the gold only bcz his father is a rich person, who could provide him with best facilities, German coach, oversease training on his own. No sports authority or govt has any hand in it.
LET THIS ADDICTION TO CRICKET B REMOVED BY BANNING IT.
It is shameful that a country of 110 crores has got first individual gold in the hystory of Olympics and after 28 yrs of Hockey gold.

Cricket is a fabulous game. e.g. a you may see a dull test match for 4 and half days but it can happen that in a moment everything changes. Sometimes just one catch or one wicket can overturn the result process. Just remember Kolkatta 2001 Ind Vs. Aus - All that Aus wanted was one wicket and Steve Waugh's final frontier was conquered. But it turned out to be an exiciting match as the result was overturned by Laxman-Dravid partnership. India even went on to win the test and later the series. There were so many exiciting matched. So do not term cricket is bad. -

Do u mean to say that in other games there is no excitement? There is more such excitement in other games. It is all our addiction that we only talk about Cricket. I was also a Cricket addict earlier.
As regards Cricket, Bernard Shaw, an English poet had desribed it a foolish game. It is for lazy people. As out of 22 players, 9 r always sitting outside. I hv already explained other drawbacks of cricket above.

Dude ur mentally disturbed person. First of all ur comment that Cricket spoiling the other games is childish. Its not cricket its our corrupr system who is spoiling the show & secondly u said its a non competitive game, is another joke. No sport is easy to play & win. Just imagine in test cricket 5 days u have to spent in burning hard sunlight. Can u spent 2 hrs in aftrnoon's sunlight. Don't talk nonsense like ur talking god's verdict. Yes other sports must be encouraged & supported. It is foolish to assume by banning cricket other sports will grow up. Even other countries like China, Japan etc r showing intrest in cricket & Olymic commitee is also thinking of including cricket in Olympics if I m not mistaking. Be sensible & talk sensible.

It is right that govt does not do anything to promote sports in the country.
However, now everyone talks only about Cricket, which is definitely dangerous for other games. Bcz of this sponsors r not forthcoming for other games, as they calculate the advantage in terms of increase in their sales by supporting the game.
Abhinav could get the gold medal bcz he belongs to a rich family and his parents supported him by providing all the facilities, German coach, foreign training etc. No sponsor or govt helped him. There may b many poor persons in other non cricket games languishing bcz of shortage of funds.
This indeed is a very good effort by Indian team, gaining confidence with each game and ultimately culminating in a fantastic win. All team members, coach and officials deserve award and recognition. Jai hind
NO DOUBT IT IS A GREAT DAY FOR INDIAN FOOTBALL. GUIES PROVED THAT THEY ALSO CAN PRODUCE SOME SPARCLE MOMENTS ON THE GROUND.BUT I WAS STRANGE TO SEE THE ROLE O0F INDIAN MEDIA ABOUT THE GREAT SPORT.UNFORTUNATELY NO INDIAN MEDIA SHOWN IT IN THEIR HEADLINE NEWS !!!WHAT IS THEIR ROLE TO PROMOTE IT ?

Media telecast as per public interest. how many Indians were crazy about europian cup or world cup. How many can say the name of the country who won the last cups. We feel our cricketers are hero. they have huge money. but one footballer of the premier league is costs more than indian cricket team.

U r right. Media supports only Cricket. If this was a cricket win, there would hv been a few hundred messages by now. What a shame for the countrymen. That is the reason we do not get medals in Olympics. Cricket is a time consuming, non-competitive (as only a few former British countries play it) and drain on our resources (as we finance the world cricket).
Why are ppl interested in this tajikistan, krygstan man?? EPL starts this saturday..Cant wait to see ManU(the REDS) winning. Hwo the new signings like DEco(chelsea),Arashavin, modric(spurs)gonna perform? Will Gerrarrd win for liverpool? Dear Sandeep. Instead of being happy that we r not very good at football, u should try to introspect, how the situation can b improved. Only making fun will not help. They hv now achieved something and need our encouragement instead of ridicule.

Hey, wise guy hold on there. Being a fan of Man Utd myself I would like to see them win all competitions. But that does not mean u berate the accomplishments of the Indian football team. Its bcoz of fans like u & selfish politicians that Indian football is in such a bad state. Given the fact that they hardly have facilities available to foreign countries/clubs, they have done well. PLEASE do not berate them if u can't support them.

i also like epl and other quality leages, but foremost i love football and by just being a cheerleader for an ultra rich club in far west will never make anyone a true football fan. you have to the footballing achievement from your own backyard to really, in whatever state it may be. indian football has been in a dismal state for a long time, but its player always show great will and determination, which makes me keep supporting them. and there will and a good english coach had put life back into football last year and yesterday they took a giant step in achieving there footballing dreams. so come 2011 and expect you also sandeep to support india in there journey in asia cup( now dont say that it not euro cup).
