EVERY SPORT IN OUR COUNTRY SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED
by jibak majumdar on Aug 14, 2008 11:46 AM  | Hide replies

Dear Friends,
We are always blaming cricket which is bad or discouraged/banned etc. etc.etc.
According to my humble opinion that cricket is not bad sport and is not responsible for lower standard of other sports. It is govt/public/sponsorship will help to upgrade other sports and encourage sports for common man in a country like India,e.g Football/Hockey/Badminton,Atheletics and all other sports. In other words resources whether from sponsorship/Goct/Businesss Houses/Incentives, should be uniformly distributed not only cricket but also to other sports. I have a small suggestion i.e. encouragement should be spreaded through village/small towns ,not confined only to urban cities or effulent classes.
Thank you all my friends for their alterness of all sports.
From: jibak Majumdar,Vashi.

if there were as many countries playing cricket, as much as playing football (more than 200 nations!!)..tab indian cricket ki auqaat pata chalti..there would not have been much difference in ranking of indian cricket team and football team...both lying far lower than 100, 150!!

but these guys r smart..they have chosen a game which is official player in 12-14 nations and some other parts of d world where this expatriate population...

Good things ...

Good things are happening to Indian sports. First it was Avinabh Bindra, and then it is Indian Football that came to the limelight. I hope Football Authority in India will give full support for developing football academies in the country now onwards. And, those will, in turn, be responsible for another football resurgence of the country. Its very sad that the football authority has to work so hard for bringing the lost glory, rather than working on it (in time) and getting ahead of all other Asian countries. Anyways, the time has come when we really can leave a footmark again in Asian football. 3 years are remaining for the AFC Cup. Build a strong young team and go all out. We are there to cheer for our national team. Go boys ... Go.

Congrats to the team for crossing an important milestone.

Indian football needs all the support and encouragement to advance further and be in the list of world cup qualifiers by 2014. Corporate/Educational Institutions making investement in Football and other Olympic sports should be considered for tax exemption.

There already is a tax exemption. All football clubs in India are supported by corporates and PSUs.

Kingfisher East Bengal, Mahindras, JCT, Tata Football Academy, Air India, Zee Churchill are all owned by rich corporations. All football clubs in Goa are owned by rich businessmen and politicians.

The corporates are supporting Indian football. What we need is the fair-weather bandwagon hoppers to really support the national team and local clubs. If Manchester United, Real Madrid, etc came to play a friendly match you would get to see packed stadiums.

In the games in Hyderabad we had less than 2000 people watching India play.

Quit blaming the corporates for investing in cricket and start supporting and following other sports as well.

Chetri is a star

All he requires is a proper backing, may be exposure in EPL English premier league will be helpful Bob should see if he can get him there even if it is a low ranked team no probs but the advantage is he will emerge more clever and can draw better strategies. He is like hunter ready to pounce on any loose balls in the striking area unlike Bhutia who can get selfish at times and likes to stick on to the ball more than necessary

and the SAI is our star in weightlifting. they have excelled in scuttling Monica Devi's chances by deliberately tampering with the dope result. after all, what is 1 less poor athlete to our country anyway?

India has made it to Asian Cup after 24 years, when Sudip Chatterjee and Millovan were the coach and captain respectively. This is a tribute to them and also to Satyen, Krishanu Dey, Pem Dorji who belonged to that talented team. They have passed away as well. The present guys are also very good like them and should be allowed to shade away.

India has qualified for Asian Cup Football after 24 years. The last time was in 1984 when Mr. Sudip Chatterjee was the captain and Mr. Chirich Millovan was coach. Both of them have passed away. This is a tribute to such people like them and also to Satyen, Pem Dorji, Krishanu Dey who have also expired. All of them belonged to that team, which is regarded as India\'most talented team. The present guys are more talented.
