by vikram on Aug 11, 2008 08:34 PM

Abhinav's words point out that he is the ideal karma yogi... Doing ones duty well 100 % ,enjoying it and being focussed on the goal without any psychological clinging or craving for the results.

In Abhinav, the ancient and modern India meets...

Jai Hind.

very nice Abhinav

you made Indians feel they should rise to excel but the sponsorship you could get, if a good section of our sportsmen also get, surely we will have a big number of potential medalists in other Olympian sports of India
your calm composure, casual reflections on the achievement speak really good volume of the maturity of the person behind the Medal.. please lead the way and a trail a path for atleast some of our budding aspiring sportsmen/women with your own strategic way.. please do something for this and sure you will be remembered at each future medal ceremony by the potential winners from India.. God Bless with all the strength and resilience to lead India to a wonderful sports achievement in the years to come with your lead ...

Provide better sports infrastructures...................
by samrat on Aug 11, 2008 08:16 PM

Salute you boy making us proud.

Central and State governments are announcing rewards worth lakhs and crores now. If they could have announced this big sums for building better sports infrastructures(Stadiums and other sports facilities) for the Indian sports men then we could have won this GOLD fifty years before or atleast 20 years before. But still atleast now, better identify the true sports men/women from the nooks and corners of the country and train/encourage them for the next olympics.

Stop recruiting/identifying sports men/women through recommendations and political corrupted channels. Find the true sports men/women.

Jai Hind!

Congrts Bindra for a wonderful performance....and rightly said by you -

(from the bbc website)
Asked how his life would change after the gold medal, Bindra says: "For me life will go on. I sincerely hope that it changes how Olympic sports is viewed in India.Right now Olympic sports don't seem to be priority and I hope that changes"

we spend all our money on cricket and produce a team that cannot even beat sri lanka.....till others sports are given importance we will always be a 1 billion country with a 1 medal winner.....

(Also from bbc website)
Abhinav had every facility at his beck and call - his family in the northern state of Punjab has spent millions of rupees to fuel his dream of an Olympic medal. His affluent family - he himself runs one of the businesses, Abhinav Futuristics, named after him - backed him to the extent that he had a private shooting range at home. His father spared no effort to ensure the best of everything from equipment to coaches to training stints and tournaments for exposure".

imagine if like most atheletes in india he was dependant on aid from the government????

facilitlies alone is not enough most important you must have the talent and passion for that particular sport, as abhinav's father said he was a child prodigy and has been shooting from the age of five. It is the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice

not all who make it to the top r prodigies from the beginning...some need to be groomed n that hidden passion which is always suppressed by their peers n the society needs to be noticed n brought out..sumone should be there to show them the way..it does make a lot of difference..we need better facilities n once we get that indians will excel in every damn field there is..
