Honour him properly
by SunilB on Aug 11, 2008 11:43 PM  | Hide replies

This is indeed tremendous. I hope the Government honours him appropriately and encourages him to greater heights. His achievement is all the more significant since all credit goes to him alone.

This gold belongs to Abhinav and Family
by MAK on Aug 11, 2008 11:21 PM  | Hide replies

Abhinav rightfuly dedicated the medal to his family and the coach as they are the real powers behind this success, as for all the state govt anouncing the reward this is actuly the true INDIAN finomina, where we recognise a hero only after the hirocs and do nothing to produce them more.

It would be meaningful if the awards also allocated for creating a sports facility in every state which is world class and actuly run properly unlike all other facilities, but then another contractor, and everyone involved in that will make money and this reality will remain a dream, because as an INDIAN we want only Mircales not hardwork...don't we??

Well done
by Shiva on Aug 11, 2008 08:38 PM  | Hide replies

I congratulate Abhinav Bindra for his achievement. He has done something fantastic and we feel proud of it.
But I dont understand the idea of using this achievement to say something about India's present generation.
In my view, India's youth in general is as corrupt and narrow minded as the previous generation or maybe even worse. They hate people from other castes, religions etc. and really havent shown much improvement in civic sense, work ethic, professionalism or being open minded.
This guy's achievement reflects his hard work and talent. Dont equate that with the rest of today's useless Indian youth.

More that hard work and talent, I feel the thing which worked out for Bindra is confidence and ability to perform under pressure. The agree to a great extend on what the writer above states. We have seen several times in cricket that a weaker team (or team member) performs under pressure to take the team to victory and a stronger team some times succumbs to pressure. I appreciate and commend Abhinav and also hope that our younger generation brings more laurels to our country.

ABHINAV , THE IDEAL KARMA YOGI...
by vikram on Aug 11, 2008 08:37 PM

Abhinav's words point out that he is the ideal karma yogi... Doing ones duty well 100 % ,enjoying it and being focussed on the goal without any psychological clinging or craving for the results.

In Abhinav, the ancient and modern India meets...

Jai Hind.
