Anyone Zidane or Pele should not be left unpunished for misbehavior. But Zidane had the independence of appealing to the refree after the match on what had taken place between him and the italian, Instead of butting on with the italian directly in the field. Even though Zidane is a great player and had made appearances in two world cup finals, he has certainly left a black mark in the football.
Anyway French's lucky dream run stopped. They really didn't have any convincing victory, they were riding on opponents mistake and the goals scored against portugal and Italy came from Pentaly by thier great acting skills. Thiery Henry desereves a nomination for Oscar.
They nothing special for this worldcup, only clumsy defence exhibited Abidal, Thuram, vierra.
In the match against portugal whenever christiano Ronaldo was pushed down Raymond Domenech was showing sings of diving.
But was French doing in the finals. Maluda, Ribery, zidane was practising dives.
They should have got Wiltord pretty early in the match. It was a mistake to replace Ribery and Henry. They were as crucial as Zidane himself, to score a goal. The worst part was that they were forced to replace Patrick Vieira. Now just a couple of strikers were left on the field. May be Zidane didnt want to lose the match while he being present on the field. So, probably he deliberately got himself red carded.
The most saddening part of the match was when the French coach, Raymond Domenech was standing there watching the Italians grab the cup, celebrating. He stood there still, petrified watching them. His stillness and silence reflected his sadness.
its a game played and propogated by cheats. more of playacting than play in this sport. ppl acting injured ven they arent , fouls awarded ven no foul is commited cos the refree is foled by the superb acting skills of the footballers.

I think Zidane had lost his mind.... The Italian defence was too strong to penetrate...so Zidane wanted to bulldoze his way to the goal like a bull running through the Italians......what a shame for such a football great to end his career this way.....
What ever said and done...no player has the right to react in such a way in a "world cup final"
Zidane header can be given the "Iron head" award, like the golden boot award.....
