The Orissa High Court on May 5 asked the Centre and KoPT authorities not to act in haste in connection with the issue of extension of port limits. A two-member bench of the HC consisting of Chief Justice Mr. V Gopalgowda and Justice B M Mahapatra began preliminary hearing on the matter and ordered all the parties to submit their affidavits before the next date of hearing. It may be mentioned that, due to KoPT expansion Paradip port and other 7 port of Orissa like Dhamra, Bichitrapur, Subarnarekha mouth, Bahabalpur, Inchudi, Chandipur, Chudamani will be adversely affected in connection with mineral resources and industrial development.The state government will annually loss a revenue Rs. 684 crore for the KoPT expansion. The next hearing on the matter is scheduled for June 21.
