The original people lived in India are not Hindu's for your info Mr.Sriram... They were having their own god... If you are a real Hindu.. can u tell me publicaly.. how the god shiva statue "Lingam" formed.. why Lingam is in that particular shape... can u answer this question...?

I accept my religion and I know it's flaws Mr I-Know-It-All. And yeah the lingam stands for the phallus and the yoni - a symbolic representation of Shakti and Shiva and their cosmic union that produced this cosmic egg - the universe. So what's wrong with it? Did you jump from the heavens? Were you born through Immaculate Conception? Hell, this is hilarious!

Mr.Sriram.. I havent come from the sky's neither any living things in the world... but the lingam is not depicting what u say.. if u can read Linga purana...if u will find out...the interesting fact comes.. how it has formed... when you read the story, u will know, is it worth to worship all those non-sense... Here for dignity sake I am not giving the details.... Do u respect anyone who flirt with others wife..???

Uh well, you would do well to educate me on that Mr. Bharathiraja. No, I am not averse to knowing stuff if it is authentic and as for your grouse against extra-marital affairs, well I really don't know what you talking about and neither would the 'great' EVR know. He was busy wedding widows you see..

what periyar did not mention that the chaturvarna was first adopted according to the division of work, not on the basis of caste.in history,we would find several intercaste, even inter religious marriage including friendship between different communities-rajput king married a bhil girl, sri krishna was a yadav who married several khsatriya girls, akbar and jehangir married rajput hindus, sri ram had a friend like guhak who was a chandal, laxman got knowledge from ravana when he was in death bed.so ancient india was not full of casteism.jabal stayakam was welcomed by maharishi goutam who termed satyakam as brahmin(satyakam had no registered father),chandragupta maurya got the title from her mother who was a dasi and chandragupta maurya and samrat ashoka were not the representative of upper castes.sufi movement, bhakti movement was against casteism and religious narrowness.sri ramakrishna and swami vivekananda faught against casteism not balming the hinduism alone.so i think periyar missed and crossed the line.he could have mentioned the tolerism of hindus who gave place to other religious groups.there is not a single evidence in the ancient, medieval even in some parts of modern world in the field of religious tolerance in christian and islam country.also hinduism accomodated several different thoughts within a religion-here we have idol worship, nirakar god, even we get atheist philosophy, every person can woRship god in any foRm in this religion.hinduism is the only religion which never involved in forceful religious conversion.but pity is that periyar did not mention these positive sides.but sOme extent he spreaded a sense of hatred in the name of abolishing casteism.i donot know why.yes upper castes are very much responsible in many cases.but almost all of the great persons are from upper castes who made indians proud by their tallent, dedication not by their caste identity, what periyar also did not mention that many people from upper castes did several social reforms-RAJA RAMMOHAN ROY,ISWAR CHANDRA VIDYASAGAR were brahmin but did signficant social reform, sri ramakrishna vivekananda also did their best, upper caste personalities were greatly involved in the country's freedom struggle(subhas bose, tilak, nehru ,gandhi ,gokhale, bagha jatin, jatin das, lala ljpat and many names)where the leadership was maintained by them.even the great achiever of tamilnadu-srinivas ramanujam,cv raman was from upper castes.i donot know why he ignored all this.ok,but still he has a place in my mind for his movement for social justice which some extent changed as a movement of hatred at latter stage.
Good interview rediff and team.. keep it up. I am a North Indian brahmin and through this article I got good idea about Periyar and his views. Though I dont subscribe to some of his idea, I feel he has done good things for lower classes in general.
periyar obviously tried to start a new religon, a religon that does not believe in God.
the current cm of tamilnadu is a believer in that religion and as a "messenger" is giving publicity to it with media help. just like "tom cruise" is doing for "scientology"
i think the people are more bothered about filling their stomach's rather than thinking about religions now.
In many ways Periyar was ahead of his times. In creating his movement - Periyar did awaken the giant of social justice. Unfortunately the very same weapon which Periyar used is also used by some of his followers for their personal gains -much to the chagrin and consternation of the people whom they are supposed to take care. Thats why even today there are claims and counter claims from some communities to include themselves within the statutory coverage. People who have personally known Periyar also have said that he respected and encouraged honesty, truthfulness and superior performance in whatever avocation one undertook. His life and teachings carry an underlying message viz. privileges should be fought and got - but it is not a substitute for mischivous anarchy! If Mr. Rajasekharan's movie brings out these elements -it is praise-worthy!
The aryan invasion theory is still debatable and many hsistorians are not accepting it. It is a dead theory. You are saying aryans are barbarians. But who is unleashing the atrocities against SC/ST.Is it the brahmins or any higher caste people? . Who is responsible for pappapati and keeripatti.Dont put all the blame on brahmins

You are correct in some aspects. Aryan Invasion theory is still a baseless concept.
Kick all racists, religionists, capitalists, etc... out from this country (NOT ENOUGH!! from this planet!!).
