Dear CH, After (if) Brahmins move out, all dravidian parties including the DMK will disappear. Afterall, all the Kazhagams came into existence only to wipe out Brahmins. Karunanidhi in his 1967 election campaign swore that if elected, he would make Brahmins clean the toilets of the non-brahmins. Thanks,P.B.Mohan

any Brahmins living in TN by choice ? I think by now all Brahmins will have fled to all parts of the world if they have the opportunity to do so? I dont blame them, after all they are blamed for all the atrocities committed by OBCs against SC/STs.

Brahmins still live in TN and are prospering well. This is a free country and no one can throw anyone out! Brahmins are too intelligent and disciplined to be bullied by cowards. They are proud partners in the progress of TN- nobody can doubt their tamil identity and contribution to tamil society of which they are part and parcel of. I know many brahmins who are athiests and DMK supporters, there are brahmins who have married into other castes. As there are mudaliars and naidus married into brahmin families and following brahmin lifestyle. So brahmins are hardly victims, they have learned to survive. And for the last time: the vast majority of common tamilians on the streets are not brahmin-bashers. Which is why Periyar failed, even MuKa has cleverly concentrated now on Jaya-bashing and dynasty promotion! He even joined hands with completely opposite BJP to promote those objectives! Nothing wrong- he just proved he is like any other Indian Neta.
Because of Periyar, the hatred against Brahmins started. Cutting off sacred threads of Brahmins, and their long hair have often been done by his followers even today, garlanding of Gods status with chappels, calling Brahmins by dirty names, etc. have all created fear and insecurity in the minds of this great, but microspic community. After all they have a right to believe and practice what they believe in, without any interference from any quarters. This was duly supported by successive Dravidan Governments. I can call this as 'illtreatment and insult' to a particular community aided and abetted by the Govt.
This communicty is basically service oriented and they depend upon employment only. They believe in education, and through education and competitive exams they try to get into employment, both Govt and private. They are known for their sincere and dedicated service right from British days. It has given great people like Rajaji, Silver tongue Srinivasa Sastri, Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujam, Poet Bharathi, Nobel prize winner Sir CV Raman, ex-president R.Venkatraman, etc. to name a few.
Because of the Resevations in educational instutitions, and also in Govt employment, poor Brahmins are unable to get into professional courses, and also into Govt services, inspite of having scored very good marks. Is it not discrimination of a small community to please the other communities under vote bank considerations.
This process has already eroded the credibility and efficacy of services in T.Nadu. Once upon a time, Chennai was known as the intellectual capital of the country, because it used to send a major portion of IAS/IFS people to the Central Govt Services. Thanks to the Dravidan Govt's pro-active, vote bank reservation policies, it is no more the case. The other problems created b'coz of this reservation policy is corruption at its height, poor standard of services all over, to name a few.
Brahmins are a great community. Even if you don't help them to contribute to the country, atleast do not harm them, they will take care of themselves.

You are only looking at one side of things, Mr.Srinivasan. I do agree that brahmins are going places and are good scholars etc. Nonetheless, you must also understand that these same brahmins had stopped other communities like the harijans from getting access to any kind of education for generations in the past. So now it is repaying time for you brahmins. Even the well off ones among you are not helping the poor folks in the community because most of you people are so selfish and lacks compassion. The bad shape hindu fraternity is in today can be attributed to the brahmin hegemony in hinduism during the early centuries when they divided the hindus based on caste. Remember there are not many who sacrificed from your community. Most of the great leaders in India who have contributed and sacrificed for the indian cause are from the ruling (kshathriya) caste. Most of your folks are real coward people who will work hard only for your personal gains. Of course, these are all old stories and what we need today is a new generation which doesn't believe in caste. The OBC/SC/ST and all quotas should be abolished. There should be only one caste called 'Indian' and all reservation should be based on economic backwardness.

Much to the disappointment of brahmin-bashers and also the brahmins-who-fled TN theorizers: Brahmins are still great and people in TN are greater. Brahmins are no cry-babies, they are talented enough, disciplined and education-oriented to take a few hits! Although reverse-descrimination has targeted them alone for the follies of all upper-castes, they have come through very well.. They are still being treated with respect and admiration by the average tamilian. Only those who are complete failures (very minor %) still target them for all their misfortunes!

Don't call others 'bashers' when they talk about the fact. Prove them worng with some healthy arguments if you have. If Brahmins have come good of late, it is a good development. After all the prosperity of any country depends on the oeverall development of its people irrespective of caste, creed etc. The brahmins today must take lessons from the past and make corrections where as the OBCs also must enjoy their new windfall (like 27% reservation) and stop making mock at the forward castes.

I know some people want to keep on abusing others and want to get away with it and if somehow someone complains then they try to stop him from doing so or shout him down similar to Hitler's SS. It is just one example of the nazification/talibanization/balkanization this country is heading towards. People here are targeting communities believing what great service they do to their kins not realizing that targeting any community in itself is a great disservice to the country and to their community itself.I don't want my country to have several partitions on communal,casteist and linguistic-regional lines, but with all this going on, I can only look in dismay as to what my country is slowly turning into. A great disservice to the country is being done by this balkanization process and seems loyalties from India have now narrowed down to local affiliations,there seems to be no patriotism left!!!! It just seems to be a Feudal structure waiting to erupt similar to what happened in 47!! Shame on all those who think what great deeds they do by abusing people, those who think that their local loyalties are far greater than this country and that the country can be compromised at any cost to fulfill their wishes and give vent to their prejudices.If you have any sanity left, come to your senses!!!!

Well said akash. Nowadays, the discussion forums are stinking with foul mouth and words by these bashers. I just wonder, we end up with stinking forums in the name of democrazy. It is indeed crazy. Shame on you and get away with this. The entire world is looking at us. Even some spies, people from other countries are writing some provocative words and our guys pounce on them. Please control your words and comments and emotions. We are India and truly Indians.
all this hatred by upper class is towards reservation,now this is true because brahmins are the only victims of this system of reservation,again by some experience after independance we can see them to be working with true concious and sincerity in any organisation because they fear god.definitely reservation certainly hurts them but my request is them and their intellectuals to carry out all struggle against untouchability in hindu religion then only their fight against reservation will be relevant ,or else they and their intellect will be victimised.obc"s though land owning and rich will get benefit of this policy and it will not serve to the benefit of sc/st also because they are the people who commit atrocity against sc/st.sc/st reservation will help only the learned and intelligent among sc/st other untouchables will remain as untouchables and majority of them will livw life full of wretched.so my request to brahmins is to fight against untouchability it will solve all your problem and also common mass of sc/st.
