If EVR was against caste based politics, all his protege's who are now ruling TN are playing ONLY caste based politics. Isnt this a contradiction? The fact is, with the advent of all the 'Kazhagam' parties, TN is completely messed up. The parties praise EVR publicly, at the same time, privately they hated him. All EVR's followers acted against his wishes during his last years -- Anna, Karunanidhi, later MGR. Anna split with EVR, because he wanted to become CM, which EVR was against. If EVR hadnt married his young wife at his last years, his fortune would have gone to the party. He didnt want that. So Rajaji adviced him to marry her.
The sad fact is TN people are the biggest fools, who are getting ripped off RL & C by the local politics.
But the overall picture is a bit good, because Congress (read Indira Gandhi), after shooting its foot by denigrating its own candidate Kamaraj, never gained foot in TN and its been 40 yrs and counting. The results of those stupid moves by Indira Gandhi for her personal benefits are being felt in the last 15 yrs. Congress, once a single & mighty party can survive only by begging other parties. Once upon a time, the Hindi heartland controlled whole of India, and the lower states were kind of 'hanging' on to the North, but now Congress has to get permissions from Karunanidhi, Laloo Yadav etc to even goto bathroom.
If the real truth of EVRs last years are told, and if the Kazhagam parties, esp Karunanidhi have any shame left, TN history would have been different. But since Karunanidhi himself sponsored this film, whats being told & sold is a commercial masala film.
Periyar was one of those people who became famous by doing something different from others .When whole of TN prayed by looking at God he asked people to show their back and pray .that is how he got attention .He was from a rich family (from article itself)so what right he had to criticize Brahmins stating that they occupied 22 posts in govt.Who stopped him from studying as he was rich and not oppressed .When he knew that he had wasted his life and wealth he turned against Brahmins and pitted others also against Brahmins .He could have shown his anger against British and they would have left India a couple of years earlier .He respected women but married two for his enjoyment.When others do it is male chauvinism when he does it is OK???

To begin with, india came up with the concept of identifying people based on their jobs. As you all know, brahmin, kshatriya, vaishya, suthras. In the middle ages, this identity got lost and thus evolved the caste system. Please understand this very clear, the hindu mythology does not have castes, the so called followers of the hindu way of living (we indians) brought it. Thus the very fact that periyar was a anti-hindu is really stupid. He fought against the social injustice in this society. Yes, brahmins did get over their limits for which they are paying the price. Today Brahmins are a minority in TN. Has this made any difference for DMK. The so called OBC are the biggest losers, wake up people. There are a bunch of politicians here who are exploiting this caste to the maximum. I find it really funny to see all you people fighting over something thats totally absurd. If you want equality, then fight for it. Don't discuss it over a stupid forum like this. Focus all this tremendous energy you have to make something happen.
Lets educate the poor. By 2020 lets try to achieve a basic level of education in our society. Lets make sure we have no beggers in our society. Lets make sure there are no homeless.
Now thats a dream, there's no point fighting among ourselves. It's of no use guys...The generation of our parents were not very well educated, but we are...so lets put this education to a better use.

As you have said.. now we have reached a point where there is equality across the caste/community(atleast in 90% of the places)..
now we should focus more on economic unequality.. none of the politicians shall take care of that.. coz that is their only trumpcard to remain in power.

During Muslim period or British ear Brahmins had no reservations. This was a class which refused to take the kingship and preferred to remain poor as educated rather than rich uneducated. That education gave them some jobs during British era. Jobs were few, competition was fierce. They used their education to fight the British for freedom. Their sacrifice for freedom spelled their doom. The dream of elimination of Hinduism from India from Robert Clive downwards could be realized by bringing a phony Aryan bull and putting the conflict within the society with Caste card by portraying Brahmin as evil. Hit the Brahmin by Hindu hand itself, the Hindu religion becomes weak. The plot was simple. The Muslim contribution for Independence was not that much. So rewarding Muslims with a country of their own, and giving the poor Hindus, the Brahmins as the evil for their poverty is a perfect solution. There is no word like Brahmanism. Create such word and give Brahmin to hate. Brahmin falls, the religion becomes weak for conversion. It is only a matter of time Brahmins will embrace Christianity or Islam-they are left with no choice any way. Today Tamil Nadu which gloats that they made Brahmins a minority will weep when Hindus will be a minority. The Periyar clan will be hounded and no Brahmins to hurt or blame. No Muslim or Christian will permit reservation based on this the well guarded caste which is an advantage now.

Every caste has its own downfall ...brahmins dominated because of their educational background ...it was because of some evil minded brahmins that all are to be blamed..even though TN is being ruled by non-brahmins i see no significant progress.. poverty is still there ....education is the basis of upliftment ..start from elementary level ..then to UG level and then PG level ...giving reservations directly in PG level doesn't give progress..it will only help those who have reached UG level and that will be only the creamy layers of OBCs who require no further reservation as they already have reached a level of upliftment....people still have to walk for miles to go to a school ..change that scenario..remember one thing friends today its anti-brahmin feeling once they r wiped out ..another caste will dominate most of the jobs then all others will be envying that caste ...it might be ur caste or my caste ...leave caste behind ...educate everybody around urself ...don't follow blindly what politicians have to offer ...they are always selfish .....

After reading this journal, one comes to conclusion that the so called perayya is more a sick psycopath - just like how Islamic prophet Mohammad talked against the Idol worship. If they are Aryan you are African. There is no Aryan or Dravidian. The Hindu religious books are written by the Brhamins alone. In fact most of the literature came from those whom we call Dalit. Brahmins just preserved intact.

This is absolutely true.. unless those Britishers planted those many Colleges and schools.. the educaion was reserved only for the "Brahmins" & part of the ruling Community..
The rest received education only in the past century in the Educational institutions planted by Christian Missionaries..

Absolutesly there was no reservation for Christian or Brahmin. It was an open competetion. Brahmins were in education and therefore they could compete, even today given an equal opportunity Brahmins will do reasonably well. "Reservation" did not exist with British. If it did, why would they reserve for Brahmin-what do they care what caste you are. why do you write gibberish?
