India has already become a super power even US cannot survive without india now and if u see at the way US dollar is loosing its value against rupee and other currencies then i think ur still in 1970s the emergency era. The successive govts start from pv narsimha rao and other govts which came to power gave us that punching power to show the world we count. look at the international acquisitions indian companies are doing now.
Please talk with facts rather than crying that goind to a temple or a church would stop growth of a nation.

i thank all those who have provided me the links. i see that few of them are praising the brits who were simply people who were businessmen and india was only a bussiness venture, and as a true businessmen they plundered all the wealth and eliminated all the kingdoms. but the fact according our history is that it is referred to as rama sethu. Can those who people who want this to be called adams bridge tell me do they want to call the Himalayas as Christhill or adamshill.
Hinduism is a belief and not a religion and all those who are in hindustan are hindus irrespective of the religion they follow. We have few fanatics who propagate their religion and think that a hindu is one who goes to a temple. And these fanatics are supported and doled out freebies and gifts by our so called secularists who only know how to please the minorities and would go any length to displease the majorities. If anybody stands against that they stamp him as a radical hindu or name it as hindutva.
so all those a**h*** who want to think its adams bridge please pile up articles which talk about that from centuries. Not a stupid brit who comes to india in 18th century and names it as adams bridge.

India discovered many scientific facts when the western science was not born? there are thousamds of facts to tell. Do you care to know? Also, why India was captured by I N V D I N G M U S L I M S ? India was not the land of nuslim origination! Why India was captured by British, who looted out 90% of India's accummulated wealth? Why did the British rule by'divide and rule'? Mr Sabu Abraham, You are a convert, or your forefathers should have been been. YOu were a Hindu somewhere in the past, and I pity that you are not part of Hinduism now. If you have really analysed our History and not talk about concocted stories made by British Government in India and by missionaries, you will get the true picture. Till 1850 (Yes, just 150 years back), every 400 people had a school. Every villager was educated. And where do you get these info, from British education survey report of 1851 ( Do you visit Libraries to read??). And the whole of India was united from Kashmir to Cape by a single language called Sanskrit. And where do you get these reports. In the same survey report of 1851. So the primary motive of Britishers was to convert heathens (?) to Christianity and they banned all sanskrit colleges and planted the missionary schools everywhere. And would we have been a progressing economically if not for English? What bullshit Sabu. Look at Japanese. They dont know a wword of English, still they are a superpower. Think about Israelis. So a country can prosper and have a spine only if respect it's culture and not latch on to deadly viruses from Bethlehem or Macca. Please do not "report abuse" this. Mr Sabu, Marathas had most of India under thier control after the death of aurungzeb excluding lower half of southern india. Ashoka's empire was from Afghanista to Burma. Also fighting between kingdoms existed through out the world and it was never just in India, Even in china there were 5 kingdoms which used to fight against each other. But the inherent culture was the same across Bharat and that was definitely not brought to the country by British. Also Bihar at the beginning of 18th century had 1.5 Lakh schools with Dalits themselves as teachers and many brahmin boys studying under them - this was brought forward not by BJP/RSS/VHP, but from the Survey conducted by the british themselves in the early 1800s. Oppression always leads to revolution and when there was no caste based revolution in India, I wonder why we should think that there was so much of discrimination in those days?? Didn't the british themselves discriminate indians, by comparing us to Pigs/Dogs ?? Why do u like the british so much ?? Are u converted christian, with no soul ?? Fools like you always talk that British did good to India by uniting india and bringing up dalits. If the british really wanted to bringup dalits why the hell did 70% of thier employees in Madras Presidency at the time of independence were from Brahmin community and not from any other castes ?? Why were there almost no dalits at all in the british government ?? If India had caste issue, the west had racism. Come to the west and see it for yourself. You can see it even in the US. In Europe racial discrimination against Irish, Scottish, burning of women by the catholics (40,000 as per estimates in the name of witch hunting), women mentioned as "property" in quran, oh boy the list is endless. Both Christianity and Islam are the most intolerant religions and they overrode any civilization that came into contact with them by force and conversion. Only Buddhism and Hinduism are exceptions.

Mr.Ramesh P, You are really clever in concealing the history. You must be a novice in history. Only Brahmins and some uppercastes were allowed to get educated. Majority of the people were branded low castes and were denied education. It is only because of Christian Missionaries that so called low-caste people got educated and protested against the untouchabililty and other cruelties committed by Brahmins and uppercastes. If you have any doubt visit Kanyakumari or Kerala and see the difference. Kanyakumari district has achieved more than 95% literacy rate and most of the educational inst.s were founded by missionaries. When you people did not allow us to enter Temples, how can you talk about conversion? Don't you think it is a contradiction?

I do not as yet see any great enough benefit accruing from having a ship channel in the Palk strait. However, your implied point that digging such a channel might cause hurricane disasters on the Indian coast interests me. What is your reason for such an assumption ? Is your analogy of the Palk strait with the US gulf coast appropriate in terms of having such a ship's channel ? Did you see any report from a scientifically credible enough source ? If so, which is that source ? Remember, the ship channel envisaged is no more than 500 metres wide and will be only as long as the width of the under sea ridge known as the Setu. The geological aspects of the Palk strait and the US gulf coast are hugely different.
What is your reason to state that this 500 m channel can upset the patterns of the winds and the waves in the Bay of Bengal ? Is your conclusion derived by yourself or has it come from a source one can think of as authoritative ?

One thing is the tsunami effect was reduced on the indian coastside and didn't have such a huge impact unlike lanka, because of this land/bridge in between. Wouldn't it help india from future tsunamis

The Tsunami didnt hit coastal India wherever it was shielded by sri-lanka, not the setu. Central and Northern TN were hit badly by the tsunami due to the lack of this shield.
