you hit the jackpot your answer.. in the West, features of a certain symmtery ring as beauty.. the prettiest girls of India are often left dateless in NYC out here sometimes... because they are seen as overweight and mousy.

You can't say lucky, she scarified every thing for cinema, nothing is balance, sad to say but who will marry her?
Why don't you guys stop at the fact that Hollywood finds Freida pretty? It is a commendable feat that she has made it there, to whatever extent, with her fashion sense and exotic looks. You think it's unfair that with a minor role in one movie she was catapulted to fame and now Hollywood celebrates her beauty? Then how fair is Bollywoood, the elite club of the pampered star-sons and daughters of stars, with the exception of some gatecrashers like SRK and Akshay? Freida is lucky to have been at the right place at the right time. But what the hell, she is pretty enough and talented enough to have reached there. Let's come to terms with her international stardom. Way to go, Freida!

True yaar! Just got carried away. Reading comments on rediff message board makes my BP shoot up. Will try deep breathing next time, rather than wasting my time defending some starlet.
To be frank Friedo Pinto has been plain lucky,she was part of Slumdog millionaire and her role in it was no great shakes any average actress with a reasonably good looking face could have done that role,it was her luck the movie won Oscars,and being a part of the film,she was swallowed by the western media,and perfect timing made her suceesful,to be frank she is no were near beautiful when you look at our top rung actress like,Katrina,Aishwarya,Kareena or earlier beauties like Raveena Tandon,Manisha Korala,or still earlier,Jayaprada,Rekha,Sridevi the list goes on...please dont give undue importance to Friedas looks ,she is just average
