Tamil cinema is professionally managed in overseas.
Take the DVD production and distribution of Tamil movies in overseas. The distributor releases the original DVD of a tamil movie once the movies in out of all the theaters in a particular city. And Tamil original copies are circulated among the Tamil community.
But for hindi movies, the next day a pakistani takes a pirated copy of the movie from theater and sell it in overseas. So the Original DVD distrubtion of Hindi cinema is affected which is well managed by Tamil circles in overseas.
(Offcourse piracy in India is still the same for any movies)

Nobody will take a High budgeted movie like ROBOT depending on 70 million tamil indians living in india. If he takes certainly he will be a fool.
Tamil Cinema entirely depends on its Overseas collections.
Remember initially Robot was produced by AIYANGAARAN INTERNATIONAL, the Tamil Legend production group of Canada. Later there was a change of hand and SUN pictures took it. (Remember AIYANGAARAN INTERNATIONAL is the sole distributor of Tamil movies across EUROPE. AIYANGAARAN INTERNATIONAL also possesses lots of Multi plexes across Europe).
Also remember, in two of the Swiss cities there is one theater in each city which shows only tamil movies. Both the theaters are owned by Tamils.
This is a fact which North indians fails to understand.
1. Indian Tamils accounts to 6.5Crores and the rest 3.5 crores tamils belongs several countries spread across all corners of the globe. So assume the global reach of Tamil cinema within tamil community. (To note, Hindi cinema can reach tier-1 cities of European countries, but Tamil Cinema reach far beyond that. That is a fact)
2. 80% of the hindu temples across the globe are built by Non-Indian Tamils. Any indian in overseas most probably will end-up in Hindu temples maintained by Non-Indian tamils. (USA has good amount of Indian Population, so our own peoples (Telugu/Tamils/Gujaratis/Punjabis) have equal number of temples there) 2.Tamil cinema has good reach with Keralite community. Infact Keralites see direct tamil movies in Kerala and abroad. Keralites are spread across middle east and as well across the globe. So again see the global tamil cinema reach including Kerala in india. 3. Check Andhra Pradesh. They watch telugu version of tamil movies. Telugu community is spread across US /Far East/Middle East/UK. So again see the global tamil cinema reach within Telugu community including AP in india. 4. Tamil Cinema has good reach in Karnataka too.
So analyse the figures in 1st point , second point, 3rd point (Both Tamil Cinema reach in indian states and overseas).
The collection of Tamil Cinema in overseas is more than home ground collection in India due to the vast tamil population presence.

So dont under estimate Tamil cinema in terms of revenue collections. Check BIG CINEMAs comment on Tamil Cinema "For Hindi movies, we need to collect revenues across india, but Tamil cinema is just like a ready made shirt, Release in south india and the readmade USD revenues flows from overseas".
Now Robot has gone towards Hindi belt in India and overseas. SUN PICTURES has got a hit and huge collection of ENHIRAN/ROBOT/ROBO(telugu) will be going to its pocket.
Just read this fact and understand yourself. If you have business mind, invest in SUN TV during any stock market correction. Next Qtr result is going to reflect Robot's revenues.

In a country of 1.2billion people im curious to know how many people know rajnikanth in his own country. I think his fame is restricted to only 70million people. What about the remaining 1billion? His fame pales in comparison to Amitabh Bachchan, SRK and Sachin Tendulkar in his own country!

After all hype and lies by tamils it has emerged that Robot has failed to break the domestic record of Dabaang! Dabaang domestic record gross was 65crores. Robot is at 62crores.
Oversea again it has failed to break any records. Yes it has broken Tamil records overseas but for indian movies it has broken no records. Overseas figures are the most accurate as they are controlled by oversea boxoffice which cannot be manipulated like they are in south india. Overseas robot has made 3.2million dollars (16crores) for opening week. However if we compare this with "my name is khan" for overseas was 8.5million dollars (46crores) for opening weekend!
For all the hype of robot it has actually failed to break any records.!

adulsadiq please refer to overseas boxoffice collections. It shows that robot has collected 3million dollars opening weekend. MynameisKhan got over 9million. That is more that double! speak from facts and not from opinions.

FOR obvious reason dont bring MNIK. MNIK is nowhere in comparison its passe`. MNIK is already telecast on tv. Wait and See Robot will never be it will run in theatres for a long time to come!!

Lets try to be intelligent. If both are good movies watch both. If one has earned 62 crores and another 65 crores how does it matter to you guys. What you did was , bought a ticket for 150 Rs and watched the movie. How come you will be inmpacted from revenue of these movies.
out of your blinkers...The technical effects in the climax appears like a vomit out of a Hollywood movie.
The visual effects in train fight is garbage to say the least.
The so called pathetic jokes in the first half would hardly trigger a smile if you have a sane head but luckily not irritating.
The actress in this movie cannot act.
The Songs in the movies are massive misfit, If AR Rahman has done some good work I cannot see the BGM stand out as its drowned in pathetic dialogues and screen play..
The so called GREAT RAJINI ACTING PUFFED UP BY HIS ILLITERATE FANS towards Climax is nothing new..He has already done the mannerisms in Moondru Mugam an old Tamil movie...But the whole dialogues put together does not last for three minutes... ONLY AN INSANE IDIOT WOULD CONSIDER GIVING AN AWARD TO RAJINI ON THESE ASPECTS.
RAJINI IS THE REAL HERO WHO HAS CARRIED A PATHETIC SCREEN PLAY FROM SHANKAR but KALANIDHI MARAN is the real Hero as he has exploited the low grade taste of modern Indian metrosexuals and marketing his movie well...
I dont find any thing great about this movie, there are easily 100's of better movies in Tamil and Hindi.

To appreciate a movie like Robot, you need to be keen to watch a sci-fi movie first, not neccesarily be a fan of Rajinikanth. Appreciating sci-fi demands imagination/creativity/wilful suspension of disbelief etc. Many non-Rajni fans in the south are keen to watch the movie just to see the humoungous effort involved in its making, technological and otherwise. Unfortunately, general audiences ( aam junta)in the northern states have very poor taste when compared to their southern counterparts and even a movie like "Rang De Basanti" had very poor collections in the north. Bulk of its money came from Mumbai and the south. A bollywood filmaker can mave a quality product and only bank on NCR in the north, that's it. The others are a write-off. Absolutely trashy taste, and they have the balls to talk about southern stars looks as if only chocolate boy looks mattered ! Ignorant fools. Robot is atleast a reasonably massy crowd pleasing product and attempts NOT to alienate the front bencher, but I can imagine that most films coming out of the southern industry would go right over the head of these northern audiences. Which is a shame, really.

Absolutely correct. Bollywood is busy in making Hinglish movies not understanble to common public. Also Rajini is down to earth man which makes him very different. In this times can Hero will dare to roam in public with original look (without wig)
