When final figures were totalled, "Hangover" just nudged "Up" down. Up was not really expected to do this well nor was Star Trek. If Star Trek had a magical performance a la Ledger, maybe it could have been the Dark Knight of the year.
The summer will definitely pan out better than last year's collection wise. Alas, quality of movies will continue to deteriorate with more tasteless movies coming up.
Hangover proves that you don't have to go totally crass to make a smart comedy about wasted guys. Talented people like Ferrell and Sacha Cohen can and should do better.
