In reply to Lucas, I dont think Atonement was a great movie,it is one of the most pretentious movies Ive seen recently.'There will be Blood' had a brilliant casting, but the movie?was it really THAT good?I am afraid not!No country had me hooked right from the start(excpet for the ending which was a bit of a downer for me),so for me,its clearly a case of the 'best of the lot'.But Coen Bros deserved the Oscar for best direction,as far as I am concerned there werent any Hollywood movie good enough for an Oscar this year!Regarding Joe Stewart,I did get the jokes, but considering Ive never missed as Oscar in the past,it sure was lacklustre, but hey the joke about Cate Blanchett playing the canine in No Country was funny ...gee
no country & coen bros deserved it.... Juno was borin in my opinion.....perhaps because in bollywood we have seen 2 many unwed mothers.... din't like it at all... good 2 see once getting one....it was an awesome song... but i expected cate blanchett to win...but any way..i've yet 2 see mome la...so lets not comment on that
No Country for Old Men was a rightful winner and the Coen brothers thoroughly deserved their Oscars. Juno was a sweet movie and I always felt it was the weakest among the best movie nominees, probably along with Clayton. Daniel-Day Lewis just blew away the competition for the best actor award by his powerful performance in 'There will be blood'.
Btw, looks like all the main movies received at least one Oscar this time.
Jon Stewart's anchoring was devoid of any wit or humour, which used to be a key element at the Oscars.'The Counterfeiters' won best picture?sure there were better movies!!No big competitions this time for 'No Country for Old Men',so I would say it was an easy win for the Coen Bros

Have you seen Atonement and There will be Blood? They are really good movies, especially the latter and provided stiff competition to No Country...

Unlikely .. I mean even if they were made into Hindi movies, they wouldn't win an award .. when u have movies like OSO doing well .. Do you think Mithya will win any award next year?

I totally agree with you rajasen fanclub. SRK and Raja Sen are big manipulators!!!
After watching all the nominess I definately thought that "No Country for Old men" and "There will be Blood" were 2 top contenders. "Atonement" came 3rd followed by Juno.
Not sure abt other categories but No Country For Old Men & Daniel Day-Lewis were definetely the favorites in respective categories.. Thankfully there weren't too many silly surprises this time around!
