A Suitable Boy

I have been planning for this book to be turned into a movie for more than a decade. It's got all the elements for an amazing epic movie AND I've got the cast all figured out too!! AND the Director! I think Vidhu Vinod Chopra should remake it into a movie... if there's a financier out there - talk to me - I've got it all figured out

Ramayana (by Ashok K Banker)
by anu bhambhani on Mar 26, 2007 12:56 PM

Has anybody read the Ramayana written by Ashok K Banker? He has rewritten the epic in six volumes...and it's WONDERFUL... absolutely amazing. Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana has started fading from my memory now. Rama, Lakshman Sita, Manthara, even Ravana every character is so real and so gripping. And it has got all masala. Would be a sure shot Bollywood blockbuster...even if it is not made into a film, I would suggest reading it at least.

Day of the Jackal

I love this book and have read it so many times. Although it has been adapted in hollywood film, I wish to see it's bollywood version. The places in the book depicted can be replaced by our surrounding countries (Pakistan., Bangladesh)and current Indian scenario. Definitely it will b a super thriller film. I think only Ram Gopal Verma or OmPrakash Mehra can do justice to this story... :-)

Correct. The plot can shift to a muslim group wanting to assassinate Narendra Modi and the Jackal getting his "equipment" made from different parts of the country. Hrithik Roshan should play the assasin and Shah Rukh can play the cop.

Which book would you like to be made into a film?
by Moumita Paul on Mar 26, 2007 11:50 AM

The Far Pavillions by M.M. Kaye. Dubbed as the "Gone With the Wind" of the North West Frontier province, this book has been made into a TV mini-series and recently, a broadway musical. I can't wait to see a full length feature film based on this story. Should be more interesting than Mangal Pandey.

Why do you get irritated with anything contributed by "on". Does he turn you "on"?

Yes, wonderful book! Ishvar Darji can be played by the great Pankaj Kapoor, Dina Shroff can be played by Kitu Gidwani :-) I think they'd make a wonderful cast and the movie could be one of the best. Maybe on the lines of "Salaam Bombay"?
