Aamir is known to be an honest person.
by Lalitha Subramanian on Jun 19, 2007 11:16 AM

Aamir's cousin the director Mansoor Khan has left films a few years back and is said to be farming in the Nilgiris near Coonoor hillstation of Tamil Nadu. I feel that Aamir who was inspired by his cousin to enter film line is still being inspired by his muse, his cousin. Last year during Aamir's short involvement with the Narmada Bachao Andolan protest, Mansoor told the paper mid-day that his own involvement with the nba and his talks with Aamir had influenced aamir's actions. Recently,Aamir told mid-day that he and his wife were keen on doing a certain amount of farmimg in the near future, probably organic farming, that they were reading up material from a univ web site, all about small scale organic farming, or some such thing.

These days so many people are taking up organic farming, not just farmers, but people with interest, aptitude and some money. On my morning walks at our area's beach side promenade, small-scale organic farmers come and sell their farm produce from private vans. Why not give aamir the benefit of doubt and take him at his word? Why this hue and cry against a person who is generally known to be sincere in his actions?

Aamir - i have lost a little bit of respect for you (a little!)

why? Ghajini is a Tamil film with actor Surya in the lead (he too had to shave his hair off!). I find it surprising that you didn't either know it or acknowledge it.

not what i expected from aamir.

I am confused !!

My GGF was a farmer. My GF was a contractor. My F is a doctor. I am an Engineer. But I am inherited my GGF's land.

Am I still a farmer? Or can I claim I am a contractor or a doctor?

Some sanity needs to be poured into these people's head. They are blinded by greed. They feel what they do is right. They justify whatever they do.

Again, somebody pour some sanity into their brains !!

PERFECT MAN....
I swear I liked your idea 500%. Please ask this question to Amir Khan or even Amitabh Bachhan (He also says he is a farmer).

If found guilty, these guys should be sent to Jail for atleast 5-10 yrs like HollyWood actors.

Jai Bharat and Jai Bhrastachar.

Well if Mr. Aamir Khan is a born agriculturist, then what the heck is he doing in movies. He should be riding bullocks and sowing crops instead. Or is he just trying to glamourise the farming industry which is considered as deglamourised activity, A la Mr. Amitabh Bachchan (another high profile farmer).

Dear Moumita,

Even if he is Actor and his father & GF is from Different field. dont we have any right to purchase an agriculture land in india. we are citizen.

The only thing is that whether he purchase the land from farmer by force or govt gifted the land (in the case of Amitabh). if anything illegal in purchasing the land, then govt can take action.

i love india

bye

He can surel buy land but he needs to adhere to teh laws, if the law says not to buy a particulat type of land, he is not suppose to buy that land. Right?

Now, as far as govt. gift is concerned, I am sure he would have got that and secondly why he needs a land in the agricultural area. I am 500% sure he will not do farming but I am not sure if Abhishek will do that work (After AB Sr. is no more, AB Jr. will not have any work in the film industry, so may be at that time AB Jr. and Aishwarya Rai can earn their bread and butter from there).

Ok ok, in that case AB Sr. has done a right job by buying a land there. But please ask AB Jr to start practicing how to use the plough and all, else that land willbe useless and few poor people may get badly effected by it and finally AB Jr. and Aishwarya Rai will sell of this land at a very high cost and go to US/Europe to settle down there.

I am an Indian, but I hate it, I am ashamed of being an Indian. Jai Bhrastachar.

Amir has no right to claim that he is a born agriculturist. If so, who is not?

Think of the reason why Government had such a rule in the first place. That's to help out the real farmers. This guy is trying to cheat the real farmers by saying that he is a farmer too. How can anyone come up with any incentives to farmers if Amir Khan like fake farmers keep coming up and saying they are farmers too. Think of a situation where everyone says they are everything. I always thought he was a person who cares about the people whenever he came out in support of different causes. That all seems like an act now. Now he is just showing how selfish he is. Instead of accepting his fault, he is trying to justify. Next time he may say he is being targeted because he is from minority. We have seen this before. He is no different than any other idiot we see in our day to day lives.

Amir is a professional in both fields - culture and agriculture. There's some difference between him and the typical Indian farmer though - when the rains are bad and debts are high, our farmers commit suicide while Amir plays cricket on screen to pay his Lagaan. Long Live India!
