Karunya is 20 not 17! He was in the 3rd year of his BTech programme when he started with Indian Idol (and has not completed engineering as your article claims)
It is really annoying to see incorrect reporting from one of the most visited media sites from India.
hey u ppl have given the age of karunya 17yrs ..he is 19 moreover u said he has completed his engineering....now how is that possible 4yrs of engg. degree...he completed his schooling in 13yr of age according to u ha ha ha ...now HOWZZAAT !!
How can Karunya be 17 and complete engineering? people complete 12th standard by the age of 17-18, and you have reported he has completed BTech. Actually, he was in the first year, and left it for Indian Idol. Nice article otherwise.
Read your article but some mistakes. Karunya is 19 and not 17 and he did not finish his BTech. As of now, I believe he is ready to leave his third year studies to pursue his music career. And from the latest I read in other regional(telugu) sites, he has already lent his voice to some telugu movies.

totally agree with krishnan's views - a weightage system with equal importance to viewers votes and to a panel of judges will ensure fair results. Its a win-win for everyone - the contestants, the channel and the viewers.
While it is true that Sandeep is a nice boy with good singing talent and performance skills, it was undoubtedly a wrong decision as Karunya is a better talented person. As everyone knows, it has happened only due to the format of the programme. There are dozens of regional language TV channels in the southern India. One hardly gets time to watch the Hindi language channels like Sony, Zee or Star. Their TV time is reserved for various serials and programmes on Sun, Raj, Asianet and Surya channels.Hindi programmes can be watched only at the cost of their favourite programmes in the reg.language channels. In view of this Karunya who has to depend mainly on the south Indian population, naturally has got lesser votes. More so when the participants do their best to canvass for votes like in an election. To solve this, only 50% weightage for the votes the participants get and the balance points should be given by the judges. This is not a popularity contest. Being a talent hunt, those with talent should win. By modifying the format as above, the revenue also wont be lost as voting will continue to be there and the deserving will win too.Canvassing for votes should also be banned.

It is an absolutely good suggestion made by Mr. Krishnan, to have 50% weightage system for the vote. Thereby the talented singers wont lose out. Remember the walk outs made by Sonu Nigam? Sonu, please use your influence to incorporate this suggestion. By this no one loses and we stand to get a proper Indian Idol
wat a inspid title. talks about what these guys r upto, and what he get is some stupid stuff of what they will do. we r more interested in reading, which music directors they r working with/which banners/for which stars and so on. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know they r giving interviews/missing home/im-still-the-same personas blah-blah-blahs. get real rediff.we don't expect you to write something to get more hits or whatever inspid reason
This is the genuine problem with indian populace! They always vote based on caste and 100% of the time get crap, they always get what they vote for. So why complain? We get sub-standard leaders coz we don't bother about merit, we bother about caste. Allthough Sandeep is not a bad find, but this is another example where we could have got Karunya but we took to Sandeep.
Thanks Mr Arjun Singh, you actually will do us all a favor by dividing the nation forever on caste systems - just cement it in......... we ask for it!
