Well getting the starcast for sholay from todays actors/actresses is not impossible yet difficult.
I'll go for Hritik as Veeru & Akshay Kumar as Jai. or Ajay Devgun as Jai & Akshay Kumar as Veeru. (Itz hard to choose one out of these two pairs) But,Basanti will be played by only & only Sushmita Sen. Manoj Bajpayee as Thakur (imagine) Rajpal yadav as Jailor & Paresh Rawal as Surma Bhopali. Now the big question is who'll play Gabbar, I can find only two names, Ashutosh Rana & K K Menon, both are gr8 actors, but K K Menon has a lean body, dats y i'll go for Ashutosh.
Trust this will make sholay somthing to watch again.
Sholay was a immortal film in the annals of Indian Movies. Its tremendous success at the box office remains unparalleled even till this date. It had a string of re-runs at every Centre in India and the box office counters were still ringing. What contributed to the film's mammoth success was the diligent screen play, thrilling stunt sequences and fantastic visuals. Besides the star attraction in the film was the phenomenal acting by Amjad Khan who lived the role of Gabbar Singh. Sanjeev Kumar also had played a cameo role and Amitabh & Dharmendra lived up to their star status.
I think if Sholay is remade now it will be a total disaster. Sholay was released in a different era when the audience were new to action packed movies. Also, I don't think any other actor of today would fit into the role of Gabbar Singh.
If however Sholay is remade, my choice would be as follows :-
Gabbar Singh - Danny Jai - Sunjay Dutt Veeru - Shah Rukh Khan Thakur - Amitabh Bachhan
I think such a star cast can do justice. But, I doubt whether it will be a success because Sholay is of a different genre.
one thing is for sure basanti should be esha deol.she is a good actress and i m sure will play the role to hilt.sunny is nice for dharam and abhi for amitabh's role.rani can be good for jaya bachchan role.as for gabbar singh,well i think kk or randeep hooda.
I think Manoj Vajpai should do Amitabh's role. Arshad varsi should do dharmender's role. Udita goswami in bsanti's role. Ashutosh Rana will be best for Gabbar,s role.

thakur saab - sanjay dutt jay - ajay devgan veeru - Abhishek Bachchan basanti - rani mukherjee Radha - tabu gabbar singh - TRY N FIND A NEW FACE ... its goin to be impossible .. still of the current lot ... IRRFAN cud be a good try.
In honour of one of the greatest entertaining movies of all times, heres my conceptual cast of Sholay.
It would be challenge to find the right Gabbar, more so a bigger challenge to find the right Thakur.
Only Manoj Bajpai could pull off the villainous Gabbar.
Even after toying with ideas of having John Abraham or even Mr D ( Randeep Hooda ) honour the birth of the angry young man in this movie, who better to continue his legacy, than his own son. Jai Jr Bachhan
Even though we have not seen the chemistry between these two actors, Vivek would make a fine Veeru to Abisheks Jaidev.
As for Basanti and Radha, Preity and Rani would pull it off with no sweat.
Suresh Oberoi could play Namalaji and Alok Nath be Ramlal.
Yashpal Sharma can be the new age Kaalia with Sushant Singh as Sambha
Saurabh Shukla as the Jailor with Rajpal Yadav as Soorma Bhopali, and Seema Biswas as Leela Mausi.
Issha Koppikar can do a Mehbooba to Javed Jaffery.
Now we cannot have the movie without Mr. Big B himself, who would do an excellent Thakur Baldev Singh.
