Hi, I think there should be a list of best/worst Indian movies. I dont think Indian movies just mean hindi movies and hindi movies actually dont represent the best/worst of cinema in India actually.
I think there needs to be proper representation. One thing for sure is there were some very good movies made this year down south as well. Also can someone please tell the IIFA awards comitte to rename their awards as some hindi movie awards please. I dont think Karan Johar/ Shah Rukh Khan represent Indian cinema with their brand of NRI oreinted subjects. Anyways here is a list of movies I liked ( including some hindi ones)
1) Anniyan ( by far the most relevant topic, great technical presentation and excellent subject).
2) Apaharan ( to my surprise this was actually a thriller, well done!!)
3) Aptha Mithra ( Kannada, very interesting entertainer).
4) Anand ( Telugu, well made romantic comedy)
5) Salaam Namasthe ( good movie, but nothing Indian about it!! except exxxxactly...! :) )
I stopped watching Hindi movies few years back when all that Hindi movie is about wedding songs where all the family members sing and dance in union. They have the cooks and maids who act as commedienas and dance. After 3 or 4 years, recently I went to a Indian store in LA and borrowed a moview "Salam namaste" ( a movie about a murder in London with Anil kapoor and Sunil shetty) and after watching it vowed to myself not to see hindi movies again. This was a movie with a very amateurish direction and screen play. The mannerisms of the the people acted is so unusual and odd and I felt like laughing whenever the actors stated acting serioiusly. Lot of overacting and overreaction in that movie.
God bless Indians and those who watch these movies.
