It pains me a lot to find the review of Swades made with such negligence and lack of understanding. Moreover its shameful of the Indian film-lovers in general and Rediff.com in particular to endorse the views of the reviewer.
Swades is a bold film that it really needs loads of courage to venture into such ideas. Let me put this across to the whole of the Indian film fraternity that, had it not been for Ashutosh Gowariker nobody would have even thought of such issues. I am tahing into account the Subhash Ghais, the Yash Chopras, Karan Johars, Sanjay Bensalis....etc who are bent upon tickling the same old concept of love stories.
The simplicity, earnestness and the straight forward narration by which Swades was made, seem to eventually play against it. Mind it, these are the pillars of this truly great film. Its hard to believe that our film lovers still crave for flashy love stories and still demand for something drastically different.... that too, always!!!
The narration, screenplay, characterisation and the music of the film are the best for this year. Not to miss, the background music which is absolutely marvellous.
Swades is definitely a great movie.it invokes a sense of national pride amonst us.We all who run after the dollar dream hoping for a better life in the U.S or abroad should realise the worth of our own village and our motherland ,India. Its not what your country can do for you .Its what you can do for your country.
The review on this film is rubbish. This movie has SRK staring in the best role of his life and concept is noble, bold and wonderful. It has such a beautiful message to the audience and the critics want to rubbish his film. This is ridiculous. After a long time we audience are getting to watch such a wonderful movie. Such movies have to be encouraged.
Good Movie, new idea, not the same love triangle type. Not a movie for all sections, targetted towards NRIs and social-service minded people.
Lot of touchy scenes..A must see.
Cons:
I didn't like the way Sharukh was behaving during the dusherra festival, it seemed the director was trying to replicate american way of life in India. He seems to say that by replicating that, the problems in India iwll be solved. The strength of indian people lies in thier ability to face odds of life, and have been doing so since centuries. Which other country is still standing even after facing so many foreign rulers and other problems? Isn't it enough to be produc of Indian culture? Aashutosh Gowarikar is been neglecting all rhoughout the movie. He is not just having confidence among himself and indians in general, he thinks only an NRI from America can free the Indians.
Swades was a very good movie. It was not slow at all. I didn't meet a single person who didn't like the movie. I don't know why the reviews are so bad.
i feel that swades is a very well made film.It may be preachy for some but after staying in USA for a year many of us could relate to the movie.I would like to also congratulate SRK for his good performance and the director for his sincere efforts.
How can it appear as preaching if there is no narrative used in the backdrop...
The only time a narrative form takes over the scene is when SRK's voice in Hindi blanks out a NASA press-meeting describing what the GPM satellite is designed to do.
The review seems to be pre-meditated in bringing down the glory of the movie.
