Income tax
by Vivek Gambhir on Feb 09, 2010 12:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I would like H'able FM to look -
1. Medical reimbursement to increase from 15000/- to more contemporary spend as of today. Not sure if the FM is aware that Doctors are charging fees ranging from 300 to 700 per visit and it is difficult to meet these expenses;
2. the conveyance allowance of Rs. 800/pm needs to be revised given the rising cost of commutting;
3. why is that the people who earn more than 10 lacs are not allowed any tax rebates like the rest of the salary earners, hence I suggest that the benefit be extended to all;
4. FM should look at introducing tax benefits for education for girl child - this will help in people sending girls to schools and help the tax payers to get benefit of the exorbitant school fees charged by the private schools.
5. the income of senior citizens be made tax free as their own source is pension.

I do agree. I am a central govt. pensioner and a senior citizen, whose only income is his pension.But the cost of living/purchasing power is fast moving beyond reach, especially the medical expences.FM soul give a serious thought towards making pension totaly Tax Free.

Tax Slab
by naiem thonge on Feb 09, 2010 12:51 PM  Permalink

hai,
i would suggest that we have a simple tax slab as in countries like philipiness, income upto say 3 lac's should be tax free and above that it should be say 10 - 15 % flat, this will make people pay tax easily and we wont have to run after back money since the tax is little everyone will pay.
you will have more people willing to pay taxes and less people keeping or transfering money to swiss accounts.
so we could kill two birds with one stone, think about it.

Why burden salaried class only?
by P Unnikrishnan on Feb 09, 2010 12:48 PM  Permalink

The salaried class only is paying the tax, while professionals like doctors, lawyers, etc. are either not paying any tax or disclosing very little income. Why dont the govt devise a fool-proof system so that they also contribute to the growth of the nation?

Now India has again speed up job oppertunities in many fields and many PSU banks are expending and opening new branches. This creates many oppotunities for young generation of inida this is alos true for ITs sentc, power sector etc. they also good lumpsum amount avg 2 to 3 lacs min.

So in view of above, I want to attract our hon' FM attention on two main issues.

1. Increase the Saving Slab from 1 lacs to 2 lacs min

2. Raise the 10% Tax applicabitiy slab upto 10 lac proposed.

If these two points be considered possitivly. It will attarct more new geration to save the mony and they also register for PAN and will give taxes easily.
Because it will help them save somthing, WHich motivate them inturn. n more more people will go for it.

Need Equal Tax slab for men and women
by Hemant Jana on Feb 09, 2010 12:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

On one hand we are saying that men and women should enjoy equal rights. On the other hand, why there is such a big gap (Difference of Rs.30,000.00) in the tax slab ? Today if you look around, you will find equal salary packages for both genders. Hence, it is totally irrelevant and needs to be equalised.
