As if the FM is gonna act on these messages...
by Antarian on Feb 14, 2010 05:14 PM  Permalink

Writing messages and scraps like these is an exercise in futility for neither the FM nor anybody who matters in the Govt. is gonna read what we painstakingly write here. I might sound cynical but that is what I have become. Nothing is gonna change for the common man who continues to bear the brunt of everything in India - price rise, taxes, terrorism, nepotism, red tapism and the like. If the Govt. had only listened to the common man or cared about him, life would have been a lot more different.

All these scraps and messages are an exercise in futility. Nobody from the Govt is going to see this let alone act. I may sound cynical but I cannot help being one given the fact it is the common man that will face the brunt for everything in India - taxes, price rise, terrorism, corruption, redtapism etc.

Rebate on Home Loan Interest
by RAJESH KHAMBEKAR on Feb 14, 2010 10:16 AM  Permalink

sir,
we would certainly want the rebate on home loan interest to stay as many like me who have availed loans to purchase a house of their own, could do so only because the rebate was existing previously. the rebate was the only hope to get some tax benefits so average income individuals. Govt. has been encouring the housing industry, and the banks are too wooing the individuals with attractive loan rates, but if the home loan rebate is removed, it would really hard hit the existing buyers as well as there would not be many who would go for purchasing new house of their own in the future.
pl. pl. do not remove home loan rebates in income tax !!!

Tax Compliance
by giridharan on Feb 14, 2010 07:53 AM  Permalink

I don't know why no action is taken to nationalise the wealth of people who are 'caught' in corruption, malpractices, etc? There are people who have 'blcak' income and enjoy their life royally without beins 'assessees'. Why is no action or plan to eliminate corruption in the country? Is it because the government and the bureaucracy are so corrupt that they don't see it as a problem? If all the earnings are brought into the net, then tax income to the government will increase enormously and automatically the tax rates will come down. We have to raise against corruption in a big way and make the 'corrupted riches' as 'untouchables'. Why not have a ministry for elimination of corruption? Actually, there is more 'private corruption' than governmant corruption and no agency to deal with it. For example 'Purchase ' executives in most companies in alliance with 'higher ups' are making crores and cheating the shareholders of the company of their legitimate income. The auditing is a total waste as proved in Satyam case. The 'uncorrupt' and 'straight forward' people are all sidelined in an administration which is a 'self seeking like-minded corrupt group'. Honest executives are silently 'carrying on' without able to change anything just to survive.
