Compensation amount
by Unni Nambiar on Feb 17, 2010 03:20 PM  Permalink

To: Hon'ble Finance Minister

There are thousands of unfortunate elderly parents who lose their only depdendent young son/daughter due to illness or in accidents making their old age days tearful. Whatever amount they receive by compensation on such unfortunate incidents should be entirely tax free on humanatarian grounds irrespective of the source i.e. by insurance, gratuity, pf, employees' contribution etc.

If the deceased is married and has dependent parents, the compensation amount sould be equally divided among spouse/children and dependent parents. In many cases, wives of the deceased ill-treat their inlaws and are at their mercy.

Income Tax

Dear Hon'ble FM,
I request to increase tax slabs upto 5 lakhs with no tax, 5 to 10 lakhs with 10% and above 10 lakhs 20%. Secondly increase in 80C upto 2.5 lakhs. we the salaried should also get zero tax on HRA/Conveyance/Perquisites etc. Salary hike for PSU employees are nominal and tax burden are too much. I hope FM will do justice with salaried employees.
