Dear Finance Minister, I think that if you make a single tax of 4% for income tax for all the people,wheather a person is earning Rs 100 or Rs 100 crore, your tax collection will be much higher than what you are collecting now and no body will try to cheat the tax department
1. No Tax for interest earned upto Rs.3 lacs on local Fixed Deposits/other deposits with Banks and other institutions for General Public, and NO TAX AT ALL FOR ANY INTEREST EARNED FOR THE SENIOR CITIZENS.
2. Make income upto Rs.5 lacs totally TAX FREE.
3. Provide a decent interest earnings for NRIs in their savings and Fixed Deposits.
4. NO INCOME TAX AT ALL FOR NRIs in their interest earnings for a period of 10 years after their return to INDIA.
5. Make available daily required items at reasonable prices.

Simplify it to the maximum. Also see whether it can be abolished and instead raise taxes on commodities which shall be purchased and consumed only by elite group of people in the society (like butter, ghee, cashew, almonds, basmati etc).
