Dacoit!!!
by Ansu Barik on Jan 13, 2011 09:40 PM  | Hide replies

The India Today group is a bundle of dacoits. They lure customers like me with seemingly good offers and then leave us in the dark. I had paid Rs 399.00 for a set of Encyclopedia Britannica CDs way back in 2009 but have not received the same. A wonderful reply saying 'we are working on your complaint' follows everytime I contact them, but a concrete action remains elusive. It is high time this group should be banned from such marketing channels.

This is a rejoinder to what I stated earlier. My order value was Rs 574.00 and not Rs 399. The order # was M-COMMERCE/0GA090070192 and my membership # is ITBC0998826. I wish somebody from their company is listening!

To my surprise all the so called on line shopping portals are fake.
Here I would like to exemp Rediff Shopping as my shopping experience with this portal has always been pleasant & my worst nightmare remains with India Times Shopping till date who don't even bother to acknowledge your complaint E mails.

it happened with me too! i ordered a set of books for nearly 500 or so after many weeks when i enquired about it they simply told me it was out of stock and i should claim a refund. first they should have told me about it on their own because they have failed to service a order for which they have taken advance payment.instead the idiots told me to mail them with a copy of credit card payment.
that time luckily they had a toll free number and i used to call them after every couple of days. i still fear the tortourous waiting music i had to hear for minutes while the stupid customer care people took several minutes and came up with trash excuses.
after some dozens of calls or so i receives my cheque.
i have learnt one thing, avoid buying online in which you have to prepay and even then buy only things like books,cd's.
never electronics or anything above 1000 rupees.
and yes one vote more in favour that India Today book club is a big cheat!!!

For the reliance store case: ask that person to show you eggs, shake his hand, make him drop and break it and tell the customer service how bad their man is proving to be...that loss will be recorded.

For the dresser case, just go back and break an equivalent amount of stuff, or steal it. Why run from pillar to post ? Want to play it more sensible: stick posters everywhere advertising the "CHEAT" dresser, notably around his shop.

Hit them where it hurts most: their fame!

That's the way you teach a lesson to this kind of fraud. On a weekend, go stand infront of the shop with a board indicating how cheap this Business owner is. Your issue will be taken care imme.

The problem here is the Justice department runned by Govt of India is so pathetic that there is no option for common man to get his issues resolved...
Had been the rules and regulation was strictly maintained then these companies would have abstained from cheating customers

Thats the main problem here .. Indian Judicial System is Ancient .. Indian has moved on from 1970 to 2010 .. But our Judicial System is still stuck in 1970s .. Why the hell it takes years and years to give a verdict for each and every Court Case ?????

MRTPC)Monopolistic & Restrictive Trade Practices Commission) is not in existence any more. You can approach Consumer Court. Better still just send EM to these defaulting companies threatening to approach Consumer Court if not redressed just lodge a complainant and see the result.

longines watch
by Sanjay M on Jan 13, 2011 07:42 PM  | Hide replies

The longines watch case is interesting. If he is a man he should be a mummys boy. At the spur of the moment he might bought it and when he reached home his girly mind started to question him. And later another question.. why should I need a speaker system when I can buy a head phone for 15 rupees? So he returns both saying watch is not good quality..Longines watch!!! and since the watch was kept near the speaker...it has got bad as well!!

I don't think so. I will go with him. The India Today promotional offers are the worst I have seen. When their salesperson calls you, he says too many freebies with the promotional offer. Finally you will only receive the product and that too with a defect. Being one of the sufferer of those offers, India today has lost it's trust from hundreds of its customers at the least

Quick action
by chandrasekhar on Jan 13, 2011 07:40 PM

Even I had a similar experience but with IndiaTimes shop. All of them are in the same boat. These are some of the dangers which one has to face in a developing country. These so called on line shops try and get away if possible but if you expose them they cover up. Again what you see on line may be what you get actually. This does not happen in a developed economy as there are very stringent laws in favour of the consumer. Imagine one can even purchase footwear or apparel after viewing on line!!Including the size or measurement. The government has to nip the cheats in the bud before this becomes a scam. Act fast and before dishing out permissions to such on line stores the concerned authorities have to formulate stringent laws and severe punishment. This will deter these rouges.Government act fast or make this type of channel illegal in India.

Another Tax is coming - PEN*Y TAX
by k p on Jan 13, 2011 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

America's Amsterdam is making history by introducing Tax on revenue of workers in their
Red light area!! (NDTV News!). If this is an indication, very soon Mumbai and all other
Red St areas may follow this practice! When Govt has no money, anything can be taxed!!
Remember, whatever happens in America cannot be taken lightly, all other countries are
competing to copy them for good or bad!!

The end result: All men and women above 18 years will have to pay taxes for keeping
their "things"!

So far this is the only "thing" which was not taxed in any country!! Now, the new world
realizes tht "thing" is a luxury and one has to pay taxes for keeping it - whether you use
it or not!! Nothing is free!! Better to get rid of it if it is not in use!!
Alternatively, if anybody is using it too much, they will have to file bankruptucy ASAP!!

Red light areas are legal in Amsterdam and so is the business, hence they can levy tax considering it as a legal business.

India's Union or any state govt. wont levy any tax as that would legalize the red light areas.

Indian Malls are pathetic
by Count Meout on Jan 13, 2011 07:22 PM

Indian Malls are like Railway station or bus stands. No point in blaming the staff - they are poorly educated and not properly trained.
In some shops where the staff can speak English tend to be haughty and arrogant. Frankly, neighborhood shops offer much better customer service.

MRTPC - The Consumer Court that takes these kinds of complaints! This Court, situated in Delhi, is equal to a Supreme Court in Customer Complaint!!

Complaint and follow up with them - but they are also lazy! Sometime, if they feel they get the necessary attention from media, they flex their muscles with these Companies!! Some Companies have regular Compalint boxes with them in their office!!
