Holy soul, Keral food !! It is like Castor Oil. I had Beef 'chukka' & full night I had to spend in toilet. Curry leaves, coconut oil etc. etc. The worst food ever have I tasted in Kerala. However, they are very hospitable, especially the young ladies whose husbands are away from them in 'Thubai' for years. Mallu 'Aundies' are very polite. 'Ungles' are seems to be exhausted, but, good in heart. Their Hindi...superb - Hum Dukaan mein saman pakda. 'Thum hamara samaan chori kiya' 'Hum tumko school mein chodhega' etc. etc. Very funny people ofcourse.
Why do people consider Southern states as part of India when it comes to culture?
These states can not even even prepare a simple Pani Puri, forget about good food.
Kerala food is not good in taste & quality. Roadside dirty shops, red colored rice, smell of coconut oil (others put in hair, mallus fry in it), kerala paratha & bhaji made of pure maida ...all are unhygienic & bad in taste.

Because if the considered just north india, india wud be just 0 in terms of culture. The fact that ur standard of comparison for food is panipuri says a lot about ur culture and upbringing. I rest my case. :D
P.S.:- The most unhygenic food is made in bombay and delhi. Do check the number of food poisoning cases. But I guess shud be fine for s.h.i.t. eaters like you. Kuch bhi chalega

guys lets just chill...so someone doesnt like mallu food...so does that make the food worse? whay do we have to give a contra opinion and diss his cuisine...lets live and let live, and in the meantime enjoy whatever god puts on our plate

Sakhi must be a sister of Rakhi Sawant. They prefer GUTTER food which they are used to. The coconut oil first start as an edible oil and not as hair oil. Sakhi go get a life. Or Jump with Rakhi...

I visited Kerala a few years ago and absolutely loved. The indian food here is so different from the indian food i have had throughout my life living in san fran and manhattan. The gf is vegetarian and there were so many amazing dishes she had there. Bittermelon ahhhh... I loved the fried masala fish and baked plantain dishes. Hands down way better and more flavorful food than the other parts of india. But then again i'm probably one of the few non-asian guys who can take a spice punch in the gut.

Great to know that you loved Kerala food. As you rightly said, very few has a punch for spicy food. Especially the Kerala spices

This is the problem of people of India... Instead of praising each other and give respect to each other's culture, food etc... we make fun... read the comments of this board and you will understand what am I saying...

I completely agree. If we all have the tolerance to like each other, we would have been much ahead that what we are today. It is absolutely alright to love your region, but never acceptable to talk shit about any other region.. Region bashers..pls get a life and have strength to say on face of ppl if you could instead of hiding behind these forums..

i can say i love mallu food , i had grown to love certain special dishes like beef briryani, beef chilli, puttu, meen curry during my stay there...i especially love the puttu and banana combo in the breakfast nothing beats the healthy and wholesomeness of that dish...also coconut oil i understand is also not agreeable to people not used to it as i have seen my other north indian frnds at first not liking it...wasnt an issue for me..cuz am a foodie and i like to experiment with cuisine.... only the kerala paratha i didnt like... and for people who go gaga over biriyani from all over india whether it is lucknow, delhi , hyderabad .or kolakta should once taste the awesome biriyani served in Kerala...its completely different and awesome in taste ....the kerala chaya and other street food is also unique just as anywhere in india ...and definitely the toddy is super if u know the right sources :)
