What a f*#king waste.. this is what u call a CAR !! ! the dumb f** who posted this article has to understand the diff between a CAR and a piece of crap with wheels .. it's a shame that the only value of this article is 1) fakely linking it as a challenge to a CAR --> NANO 2) and ludicrous nature of media attention any thing with IIT has become of late. . do something worthwhile to prove being in IIT. this is road-side stuff
its the idea which has to be appreciated. Surely the prototype need modifications and improvements. but then, the idea and the thought to get a cheaper car then nano is much highly appreaciated. I hope you can do mroe research ont eh project and still make better developments on it and for real bring the vehicle to the road as a standard commercial vehicle

Right you are, MR.Nair, thats the spirit with which you approach the development. As you can see, the latter part of the project to see a viable, meaningful, commercially successful end result is one huge step. The gap between the prototype and the final product is so yawning that its quite a challenge to meet!! And,in the process, don't be surprised if the fundamental concept of the prototyye itself is shaken. For example, what earth shattering benefit will it bring to the end user if the car is to detatch an extra fitting to provide a bike? We might as well have two seperate units !! Imagine yourself driving the car on a highway. You enter a zone filled with traffic & parking woes. With the snap of a finger, your car becomes a bike(with no detatched remnant left behind !) so you manouvre thro the traffic & parking maze, enter the zone where you can again drive it as a cozy car, with another snap of the finger!! Thats when the prototype is more meaningful, don't you think? What the project has certainly achieved, however, is to kindle a spate of ideas, some of which will one day, see the light of day !!

Mr Iyer it very good to imagine whatever one wishes to do..like the imagination of harrypotter and success of harrypotter....but in ur imagination u should not compare the very hard work done by a dedicated team of tata motors...ur idea is good that if u are caught in the traffic..u get down convert it into a byke sort..but if u have four passenger along with u..where will they sit..why dont u design something that that takes aerial route and then airdrops them to there destination...bcoz if ur idea works, there will be lot of congestion on the roads with two wheelers which is already too much there....
what most people(=retards) in this board don't realize is that the students of IITM have managed to replicate the car to bike converting idea, from batmobile. Kudos to that. The finishing, aesthetics etc can be done by any third grade people, like most of the cribbers on this board - which is why most of them are obsessed with looks. Good luck to you losers.

-Why not add 2 side cars to a motorbike? 4 wheels as well as 2 wheels, 4 and 2 seaters as well !! -I am no engineer, but can do it. -Where did the IIT-M engineers get engine of a 3 wheeler so cheapely? these days the engine alone costs 20 to 35k INR !! -Is it IIT or IT?

watch dark knight and watch the batmobile closely. That's what the students of iitm tried to do. Not the same as adding a side car.

I hope u tried for IIT exam for 5-6 year and didnt get through tht so fruststed :):):):)
...and we all thought that students of Indias' premier institute has got something different and will make the nation the nation proud. What a pathetic waste of talent. Almost all raodside mechanics can breakdown an auto and come up with some crap like this. Do we expect IITians to come up with such load of rubbish. Thanks to mushrooming number of IITs and reservation we have such a wonderful and technically groundbreaking invention. WHAT A WASTE !!!
