In todays ccworld of competetion I don't believe that anyone will teach the triccks of the trades to thee students so waste so much of money and time to acquire degree and then keep struggling in real life to undeerstand trade seccrets without them no success possible
The time has come to call the MBA bluff. Even a two year full time MBA course does not equip anyone with any worthwhile skill to take on the responsibilities associated with a job. Workplace skills can only be learned on the job not from courses at least twice removed from business reality. It is time all these institutes were razed to ground and land they stand on put to some good use.

@Saurabh- Right it is only through first hand learning that you can acquire practical skills.
It is the not the MBA which needs orientation but the curriculum. In USA mutual funds and its performance analysis has been a MBA/BBA sublect for almost for ten years, How many MBA schools ( except IIMS ) teach and give importance to a such as an emerging field ? MFs is fast replacing banks as investment vehicle. How many passing out MBA students can rip open the performance of mutual fund and analyse its risk return profile from its historical NAVs ?

Dear Arvind, Many employers prefer regular MBAs to distance MBAs although the latter is a preferred mode for many working executives esp. at senior levels. However, it is the in-depth knowledge which you have acquired that matters. What you can deliver at the time of your interview to the interviewer is what matters. Therefore penetrate your IB specialization and have some hands-on practical knowledge as well.

Dear Mr. Kulkarni, most institutes are business enterprises that 'sell' MBA and do not necessarily 'educate' which is why those who need an MBA to land that special job whatever speciality it has often shell out substantial money at times even at the cost of selling their farms to help procure / purchase an MBA degree from some university either through regular / distance mode and like you have stated the knowledge is shallow. It is like having an omlette from the road side stall and having one in a restaurant / 5-star hotel.
Whts the need of MBA people..these people directly sit on the manager posts without knowing the ground level situations..They have no idea abt business...business can never be thaught..if thats the case..dhirubhai..will be never there or no tatas...These IIMS AND IITS are just a hype..to earn money...the person with zero years of xprience will be given lakhs of money...for business u should have vision...for better management u should have a person who excelled in his fields..in my opnion every day standard of education going down in india..........becoz of maharasthra and karnatak......Even we r not able to produce gud engineers..becoz of this.....u can get a engineeer for mere 100 dollars in india and a mba manager for mere 300 dollars.......whts the use of this..And on IIMS and IITs people think them selves as over smart people with xtra amount of brain...Please people Come out of this hype.......

I have come across ppls frm both IITs and IIMs, and can tel they are well grommed and way ahead than other engg or MBA grads.. I have seem ppl frm this institutes studying for almost 18 hrs a day.. They must have something in them as they have cracked CAT/JEE which is considered as one of the toughest exam in the world. each year more than 3Lakh aspirants appear for CAT/JEE which shows that it is not hyped.

You people are frustrated lot who did not or could not make it to post graduation education. Why you say Karnataka and Maharashtra are responsible for going down in the standard of education. In fact the best education is given only in these States in whole of India. You may not be knowing the standards in north Indian states and Andhra Ptadesh in South. You would not have commented if you had even a fair knowledge of what is happenning in other States in India.
Fail to understand the craze of MBA from UP/BIHAR guys There r many fake one room mba institutes in Pune/Mumbai encashing on this craze..these people are ready to spend lacs on it..many end up learning crap... wake up guys do mba only in authorised and affiiated institutes of recognised universities
Whether u are MBA or ordinary graduate no matter and what all u studied you have to make use of it by way of gaining skill from the industry where ever u work. Don't try to encash the amount spent for your studies in a hurry. Gain more skill and use your insight to bring the company to number one levelthen automatically you will also grow.
Hi Akhila, I have read your responses to rediff as also the video clipping. IMS seems to be supporting you very professionally. I am happy that even after being well placed and away from class room studies, you are re-appearing for CAT-2009 in November. You will be taking CAT in its new format and it would be a different experience. Being an Economics Grad, you are competing CAT which is highly favored by Engineers. Your hard work and dedication should fetch you excellent results. You should be also a good inspiration to all the MBA aspirants. My best wishes to you in all your endeavors. You are most welcome at TA Pai Management Institute too. Please visit our website to know more about TAPMI, if you have already not known.
