Rediff has to question itself
by munna on Feb 15, 2009 10:24 AM  | Hide replies

Guys,

Don’t you think that rediff is taking advantage of all these developments?? It writes about them, so that more traffic will be generated and it can attract advertisements. Rediff does not know which it needs to give much important to and which it isn’t. Not only rediff guys, more or less all the medias are like this only. Shame on you rediff!! Really.

Is pub culture new to India?
by anjani on Feb 15, 2009 12:13 AM

Chanakya/ Kautaliya in his book "Artha Shastra" mentions pubsas sources of information. In his Kootnithi, he has suggested sending ganikas ( Women spies) to collect information about the rajya/ any schemes against the king./ enemy's plans etc from such pubs This means women were allowed in pubs then. In fact the culture which we are now calling "Indian" is orginally a western one... which came from the Islamic rulers and then reinforced in the Victorian era. India was much more liberal then than it is now. Indain women were much more actively invloved and treated equal then.
