For the trip I am claiming for LTA, one of my Kids Joined us 1 day later( same origin and destination cities) and then we all travelled together for the rest of the trip. Can I claim the LTA including the ticket cost for the Kid who joined us 1 day late(means, travelled separately for onward journey)? Please let me know.
Dear Sir kindly quote the circular number of CBDT/GOI which prohibits exemption of LTC availed and amount reimbursed by the Employer for LTC taken by eligible family members only and the employee remains on duty and attends office during the said LTC period. I mean in support of your point number 4 last paragraph. (reproduced) 4..... LTA covers travel for yourself and your family. If your family travels without you, no LTA can be claimed. You have to make the trip, either by yourself or, if claiming for your family, you should travel with them.
Hi, I have traveled from Raipur to Mumbai and the flight from Raipur to Mumbai was via Indore. There was no direct flight. Then I came back to Raipur from Mumbai on a direct flight. Will I be able to claim for LTA?

Considering the rule for LTA as per income tax,Suppose my employer is giving the option to chose the amount for LTA to get the tax benefit without changing my annual CTC...What maximum amount I can claim for LTA. Is there any amount limit or any percentage of basic salary ?

The benefit of LTA can only be claimed in respect of expenses incurred for travelling be it air, rail or any other mode of transport. The expenses can be claimed in respect of expenses incurred on travelling with your family members. Family for this purpose includes your two children, wife whether dependents or not. your siblings and parents who are mainly dependent on you are also include.

Please answer these queries 1. Is there a law regarding LTA? Is the employer free to decide the eligibility criteria for claiming LTA(after completing 12 months of service) 2. If an employee leaves in between , is this LTA included in his F&F as pro-rata or management can void this as well
