Designers should be spared
by Prashant Nair on Apr 04, 2006 04:48 AM

Hi
The media has really thrown this matter out of proportion. The clip of the dress coming off & the torn skirt is being shown on the television everyday.Isnt that Wrong?
The models dont have any problem they themselves have agreed that it was a mistake. Nobody realises the time span these models have to dress up & change their make up during these shows. The designer is also not able to concentrate on model as there are many models to whom he has to help in getting dressed.
The discussion of these topics should be stopped we have a hell lot of other political & social issues to speak & care about.

This is an offence under Indian penal code
by Ladsariya K on Apr 03, 2006 09:20 PM

Nudity in public is an offence under IPC. Excuses are given for every offence by the offenders. It is the duty of law enforcing agencies to investigate the matter. There is prima facie evidence to take cognizence of the crime. I hereby lodge a formal complaint or FIR. The courts can order suo moto investigations.

Everyone enjoyed
by darsh on Apr 03, 2006 08:23 PM

If such a thing happens, everyone enjoys:
Designers/Models enjoy publicity
Media enjoys it as new issue
Public enjoys the masala news
Activists enjoy as they get new activity

Whether media made it big? That is it's job. If they don't do it, no one is going to watch their channel for long time. And, they don't have enough material everyday to run channel for 24 hours. If they don't do it, probably there will not be any WARDROBE malfunctions. who will do it if there is no publicity???

Accident? Accidents do happen, but then people are penalised for that if found guilty. You can't just get away with that. Rules shuold apply equally to movies, ads, theatres, shows. There should be huge penalty for WARDROBE MALFUNCTION and very huge (also imprisonment) if found guilty. There will be no mishapps I tell you.

Check FTV coverage of this fashion week... It should not be more than what was covered by media. or else..

OR allow everyone. There is this simple rule: follow the rule.

you have to demolish both the slum and the high-rise if not according to rule.

Designers shouldn't be penalized!!
by Anuradha on Apr 03, 2006 04:13 PM

C'mon yaar this is all for free. why should anybody be penalized. When we see all those semi naked beauties on bollywood and on ramp, we want to see more of it. Indian mentality has become like this. We are on the verge of loosing our tradition. A woman can look sensual and sexy in an Indian wear too. This is just to catch the media attention. And the media too doesn't have any news so they make these type of filthy items as their main news. Indian media is all about business. and for the designers, I really can't understand why they make such kind of dresses which nobody can wear in public.

should designers be penalized?
by girinath on Apr 03, 2006 02:20 PM

the rush that takes place backstage is too much to handle, sometimes in that rush the ppl handling the dress tend to miss some details,,, and thus we cant pinpoint the designer alone for this,
its a road where if traffic is too much accidents can happen,, we are sorry if accidents happen and no single [person can be blamed,,
these thngs happen and we should not make the model or the designer or the platform feel bad.
the responsibility on the media during these times , is to handle these things wisely and not to create masala news from it ,,to increase the sales of their newspaper by damaging a bigger concern of being ppl of the same world.

Unnecessary public attention
by Priya Menon on Apr 03, 2006 12:43 PM

This whole episode of the faux pas during the Fashion Show has been blown out of proprtion by the media. When the models themselves have taken the mishaps in their stride, I think the media should leave them well alone. It is upto the models and the designers to sort out out the issue.
