Hi In Mumbai where can i get best Moghlai and Malwani non veg food?? The prices should be economical and the food should be tasty. Would appreciate ur kind feedback.
Perhaps the idly sambar of Ratna Cafe[Triplicane,Venkatnarayana rd.in T.Nagar nearer to TTD Temple &Velachery 100' rd] is the best anywhere in India. This is the only one that is pouring sambar over idlies twice even without a request & also this is the first to put small onion in sambar. It's a cumbersome to peel that variety in large quantity but they are doing it for the past 58 years.2 idlies one vada with a spoon of ghee with sambar[@Rs20 plus] is as good as a minimeal.but one thing.Tell the waiter that you want sambar only, otherwise if he serves with Coconut chutney the qty. of sambar will be less, the taste of chutney notwithstanding.I had the privilege of taking the great Lala Amarnath here.
The only interesting andhra meals point in chennai to me is The National Lodge in Govindappa naicken street Sowcarpet near to famous Agarwal Bhawan Sweets and in very busy electrical market of chennai. Also very near to the very famous imported goods market Kasi Chetty Street. The boiled rice served with variety of side dishes and variety of chutneys. The owners who take interest in serving to the customers even guide new customers to get the most out of food served. Eating ther costs Rs.20/-(non A/c) Rs.35/-(a/c) and Rs.60/- for carrier meals (enough for atleast 4 people). Have a go if you have got the taste of it. No Chappathi's or poori's though. Every thing with rice only. The food is Hot(spicy) & served very hot.
You can try the Bombay Halwa House. Though the name suggests with sweets it has presently nothing to do with sweets. Its a well known joint opposite to Hotel Abu Palace on Poonamallee High Road for authentic North Indian Tandoori Food. A meal for Two shall work out to around Rs.200/- Strictly Veg.
To taste authentic punjabi veg tandoori food, just try RAvi Mehra's Delhi Hotel in Chennai at Mint Street/ Wall TAx Road, though the latter is little expensive but is a neat place a/c near Chennai Central Railway Station. Hence easy to pick up for new comers. The Dal Makhani, Mutter Paneer, Butter Paneer Masala, Paneer Tikka Masala.etc with Tandoori Rotis & Naan's are all mouth watering. A meal for two at mint street should work out around Rs.150/- and at Wall TAx Road Rs.200/-. The limited meals served only for lunch is though easily priced under Rs.50/- per person.
