I was reading your article on the subject and do agree with all the points stated.
The exception is I did a little mix-up job rather than buying a complete set available in the market.
I bought a Home Theatre amplifier which is actually a CKD brought from UK. The speakers are B & R German Make how ever the boxes are built in India by an engineer. The set contains two 1ft x .9ft x .9ft boxes making the main speakers, two small surrounds, and one small centre. ALL THIS HAD COST ME ONLY Rs. 11000.00
To add to this I bought a original pioneer dvd player @ Rs. 4000.00
The result is beautiful. I am enjoying a quality of music and movies which only the branded sets worth above Rs. 50000.00 can produce.
I have a 3200W PMPO Lg home theatre system which I have bought form Middle East. The cost of thsi is around Rs.28000 in India. Its been 4 years since I bought it and has not had major problems.Tough I still feel that I do not ge5t the thumping MUSIC effect when listening to audio(CD/DVD-A/Mp3) on this system. It gives a wonderful experience when watching movies but certainly not when listening to music alone.
I have a superb HT system. I ahve assembled the whole system with the follwoing 1. Receiver : Onkyo receiver (I dont recollect the model) 2. Sony Floor Standing Speakers - MH-695, with each of them 4 way, and capable of handling 1000 watts Pure sound - (Not RMS!!), which is more than RMS sound. 3. Phillips DVD player, capable of playing SACD (Super Audio CD), the highest available for the music buffs. 4. Bose Sub-woofer 500 watts pure sound (Not RMS)
I am yet to purchase the surround satellite speakers and the centre speaker due to paucity of funds, but I plan to complete the whole HT system by this year end.

I bought T Series 5+1 home theatre system. The MRP is Rs 2990/- and average price it is available for is Rs 2499/-. I am completely satisfied by its performance. Its very good for the price paid.
I have a Samsung Home theatre (DVD - plays even DIVX and 5.1) which I purchased for Rs. 10500/-. Extremely good to watch a good 5.1 recorded movie on it with awesome sound effects. Very very good value for money.
Another good system is Sony at Rs. 15,000/- The difference is in the wattage and of course the Brand Name.
Both good budget home theatre systems. Would strongly avoid the cheap chinese varieties
