relevance of work experience to btech students
by saiganesh bandiatmakur on Aug 02, 2010 08:05 PM

Hello, I have presently started my 3rd year in B-tech (cse). I am very much interested to join an IIM and believe this is the right time to start preparing but intrigued by two points:
1. When (ideally) should i take the CAT?
Do i take it at the end of my 3rd year or 4th year ?
if yes, will i have a chance to be eligible for admission into an IIM (when i complete my B-Tech)even though i have 0 work experience? I believe my academic performance is very good and will try my best to maintain it.How many such candidates do make it through the IIMs?
2.Are my CAT scores considered for admission only in the year which i took the exam or can i keep my scores and come back 2 or more years later with work experience to better my chances for admission? i.e Do I need to retake the CAT later?

Eligibility criteria
by PSR Krishna on Jul 27, 2010 08:45 PM

Hi, I have passed B.A. (One sitting) from Kakatiya University with second division in 1993 and thereafter I joined armed forces as a commissioned officer. I have 16 yrs of experience and now I am interested in joining the IIMs. Am I eligible? On enquiry from one of the coaching institutes I was told that only QRs for appearing CAT is to have atleast 50% marks in graduation. I want to be doubly sure before I take the coaching for CAT about my eligibility. Could u please help me?
