dude, most of the people of Mumbai are smart. They know that the same people will be re-elected with or without their votes so decided not to waste a days worth of time?
That is the reason they did not vote!
And you can bet the ones who did, were doing so under "obligation" to UPA!!

this New York is fake. The real one is an Evangelical spamming the rediff message board again and again
i was astonished to see womens dressed in sari ,in line with men as if to cast a vote,.I was taken aback, and perhaps was going to utter a few good words for the taliban too, then i realised that those chubby morons at rediff office has given a wrong link.

No! I think this is done at the request of the UPA! Forget this being the wrong headline, its not even true yet!
Porki army is still fighting and has not declared victory! Rediff is getting overzealous or heeding UPA's request to give consolation to the members of its vote bank that everything is OK back "home"!!
In Congress Rule, Land and Property prices have zoomed up like never before. Rates went up by more than 3 times in last 5 years. Also now estate agents should not get more than 1% brokerage or 1 month rent as brokerage in rent flats. All govertment duties and taxes should be reduced to less than half, so that people are encouraged to buy and the construction industry revives. In Congress Rule, there was so much volatilty, which has sucked blood of common man and everybody is scared to buy property, fearing prices will fall more. First prices increased by 400% and then have gone down by 20% now.

What isn't? It's election time and UPA must have requested (at the last moment) not to post negative articles about the country that provides them with the people that make up its vote bank!!
electoral role search result. "Polling Booth 37, ektivity high school, talamajala rum no. 4 " it took me some time to figure out the ektivity means activity rum means room and talamajala means ground floor.. so much fo the election commission staff who man the computer entry... lol

Why should we vote, when we don't any of the candidates good enough to represent us? Why should we vote and spoil our vote and be a part of the wrong system. It is important we have an election till we have the right candidates. Let there be a compulsory option on the voting machines for ‘none of the above’. This is the only way to clean the system and ensure we get the right candidates. By not voting we send the strong message to big parties that choose good candidates.
Why should there be an election which coincides with a long weekend. The Election Commission, be practical. If you coincide the election dates with long holiday weekend, this is bound to happen. Is this a deliberate attempt to ensure the middle class do not vote? If you still want to ensure higher turnout, make voting compulsory. Those who do not vote, let there be a law that they pay 10% higher taxes, all government offices charge them 10 times higher fees, let there be first preference to children whose parents have voted. Only stringent rules and punishment for not voting can solve this problem. In any case we cannot clean the system just by voting. We need good candidates from big parties to represent us. Not corrupt losers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You read what I said, independents can't make a difference. If we need a good government, one must ensure good candidates from big parties in the fray. Only then one can clean the system. Just voting from the list of bad and ugly not going make a difference. If there are bad and ugly it is important to have the option "none of the above". Then I will go and vote and it will make a difference. If there are good candidates from big parties I will vote for them, otherwise I will vote for none from the list. And that will make a difference and I can ensure my vote counts. My vote is meaningless if I have to choose from bad and ugly.
