Sri Sri Ravi Shankar asks Sri Lankan govt to take care of civilia
by Sunil upadhye on Apr 26, 2009 06:42 PM  | Hide replies

Worried over the humanitarian crisis in the conflict zones of Sri Lanka, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has appealed to the government of the island nation to take care of the civilians trapped in the war zone.

During a three-day visit to the country from April 20-22, the founder of the the Art of Living met Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and requested him to resolve the humanitarian crisis.

He also conveyed to Rajapaksa the desire of the Tamils, who are staying in camps, to return to their homes soon in Northern Sri Lanka.

"The untold suffering of the Tamils will make any heart bleed. A place that has never seen beggars has to beg for water, food, clothes and for life itself," the spiritual guru said.

Thousands of ethnic Tamils are trapped in the 'No-Fire Zone' in northern Sri Lanka, where army is launching a final assult on the LTTE.

As part of his peace mission, Ravi Shankar also met up with several leaders including Opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe and US Ambassador to the country Robert Blake.

He also visited a camp for Internally Displaced People in Vavunia during which he expressed hope that the displaced Tamils would be able to return to their homes soon.

There was a discussion recently on NDTV in which one fellow from Samajwadi Party said to Barkhs Dutt ' you are discriminating against Muslim minorities' He said this in the presence of Zafaryab jilani (Muslim personal law board) and Muzaffar Ali. Of course Barkhs Dutt was stunned and nonplussed. Now, what do you make of this . This is competitive secularism or secular oneupmanship of the funniest kind. I never vote for BJP nor do I support them but I think they have a point when they talk of appeasement and deeply prejudiced mindset of media and political parties.

Why is there no representation of Muslims in govt?

Who is preventing them to study ,write exams, attend interviews and find jobs.

Poor people among other communities are educating their children with single minded determination. Why not muslims?

Why others like cristians , sikhs, parsees , etc who are even more of minority are better off?

Great bjp
by Paul Benjamin on Apr 26, 2009 06:27 PM  | Hide replies

BJP leader Madan Lal Khurana on Thursday resigned from the party, saying he could not stay in a "private limited company" which was infested with sex scandals and run by "AC room leaders".

Khurana said his resignation was a "painful decision" and the "saddest day" of his life, but he had to do it because the faith and principles with which he had joined the erstwhile Jan Sangh and later the BJP were today in a shambles.

Accusing BJP leader L K Advani and the 'coterie' surrounding him as the reasons for the ills plaguing the party, the former Delhi Chief Minister said he would soon expose those involved in sex scandals which had brought the party to its present decadent state.

Once kasab is proved to be minor, then the case will be transferred to juvenile court. In juvenile court, Kasab's highest punishment will be only for 3 years jail.
